Powerwell is a leading recruitment firm helping our clients discover top talent. We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager for our client. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for maximizing production equipment uptime, managing preventive maintenance activities, troubleshooting production equipment, and developing a team of Maintenance Technicians within a fast-paced plastic molding manufacturing environment. Candidates must be a United States Citizen or Green Card Holder.

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Manager will plan, schedule, supervise, and directly participate in the repair, maintenance, and installation of mechanical equipment, production machinery, automation equipment, and facility systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining preventive maintenance schedules, responding quickly to production equipment issues, identifying root causes of equipment failures, and driving continuous improvement initiatives designed to reduce downtime and improve overall equipment reliability.

This individual will also provide leadership, training, coaching, and development to the maintenance team while supporting production goals, special projects, equipment installations, and facility initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, train, coach, and develop Maintenance Technicians to support production uptime and maintenance objectives.
  • Assign and prioritize maintenance work, monitor completion dates, review employee timecards, and ensure organizational policies and procedures are consistently followed.
  • Plan and ensure completion of preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, facility maintenance, and special projects according to established schedules.
  • Maintain, add, and update preventive maintenance schedules within the IQMS production control system.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues affecting production equipment and respond quickly to equipment breakdowns.
  • Install, program, maintain, and repair automated machinery and equipment, including robotics and programmable controllers.
  • Maintain and repair plastic molding machines, automation equipment, and associated auxiliary equipment.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems within a plastic molding manufacturing environment.
  • Utilize structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis techniques to identify the true causes of equipment failures and reduce unscheduled downtime.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of preventive maintenance programs and make improvements designed to prevent repetitive equipment failures.
  • Manage maintenance-related KPIs with a focus on equipment uptime, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage spare-parts inventory and identify, source, and purchase necessary replacement components.
  • Maintain and manage environmental management systems related to maintenance and facilities.
  • Support the installation, relocation, and transfer of production equipment as required.
  • Maintain strong 5S standards throughout maintenance and production areas.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment while supporting improvements to overall plant operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Travel to other client facilities as required.
  • Perform additional maintenance projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4–8 years of practical, hands-on industrial maintenance experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience leading or supervising a maintenance team.
  • 2–5 years of experience specifically maintaining plastic molding machinery.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with plastic molding equipment, automation equipment, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Strong practical knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic systems within a plastic molding manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and equipment repair capabilities.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance and identifying root causes of recurring equipment failures.
  • Ability to install, troubleshoot, program, or repair automated machinery, robotics, and/or programmable controllers.
  • Strong workload, project, and time-management skills with a history of completing work accurately and on schedule.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Associate degree, trade or technical school education, or equivalent combination of education and relevant hands-on experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of machine repair experience and/or applicable maintenance training or certifications.
  • Injection molding processing or maintenance certifications.
  • Robotics training or certifications.
  • Experience utilizing IQMS or a comparable manufacturing/maintenance management system.
  • Experience managing preventive maintenance programs, spare-parts inventories, and equipment uptime KPIs.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a hands-on position primarily working within a plastic molding manufacturing environment.
  • The position requires standing for extended periods and working in environments that may be hot, noisy, or dirty.
  • Substantial physical activity may be required, including lifting and working around industrial production equipment.
  • Candidates must maintain strong situational awareness and ensure maintenance and repair activities are performed with safety as a primary focus.
  • Weekend and overtime work may be required based on production and maintenance needs.
  • Travel to other client facilities may occasionally be required.

Additional Information:

  • This is a salaried, exempt Maintenance Manager position.
  • The Maintenance Manager will oversee approximately four employees.
  • The position operates with minimal direct supervision and requires an individual who can independently prioritize maintenance needs and respond effectively to production issues.
