Safety Specialist - Transmission Construction

📍 Lilesville, NC | Full-Time

Are you passionate about creating safe work environments and supporting critical infrastructure projects? We are seeking an experienced Safety Specialist to support our growing Transmission Construction operations based in Lilesville, NC.

In this role, you will provide field safety leadership for transmission line construction projects, working closely with craft personnel, subcontractors, and project leadership to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and promote a culture where safety is a core value.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and support safety efforts on transmission construction projects.
  • Conduct jobsite safety observations, audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Identify and mitigate hazards related to structure erection, foundations, wire pulling, rigging, heavy equipment operations, and right-of-way activities.
  • Deliver and document safety training programs and toolbox talks.
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, property damage events, and near misses.
  • Develop and track corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare and maintain Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
  • Monitor subcontractor safety performance and compliance.
  • Support project planning activities through proactive risk management.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and employee engagement.
  • Support emergency response and storm restoration efforts when required.

Required Qualifications

✅ OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification

✅ 5+ years of construction safety experience

✅ Experience supporting transmission, utility, power delivery, industrial, infrastructure, or heavy civil projects

✅ Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, incident investigation, and risk management

✅ Experience conducting field audits, inspections, and safety training

✅ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

✅ Strong written and verbal communication skills

✅ Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record

✅ Ability to travel throughout the Eastern Region

Preferred Qualifications

  • Transmission line construction experience
  • OSHA 500 and/or OSHA 501 Authorized Trainer Certification
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor Certification
  • Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP)
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
  • Knowledge of electrical hazards, grounding, rigging, lifting operations, and utility safety practices
  • Experience supporting subcontractor safety programs
  • Storm restoration experience
