Job description

Preferred Minimum Qualifications:  
 1.  High school graduate or equivalent
 2.  Obtain First Aid/CPR training 
 3.  Ability to lift 50 pounds
 4.  Ability and willingness to take directions 
 5.  Ability and willingness to meet the needs of students  
 6.  Excellent references including attendance and punctuality
Job Goals:
To provide a clean and safe environment in the cafeteria, playground, or classroom for students by monitoring and enforcing appropriate student behavior, social interaction, cleanliness, and safe conditions.  
Performance Responsibilities:  
 1.  Clean cafeteria tables and assist in the maintenance of order in the cafeteria, playground, or classroom.
 2.  Police playground area of unsafe hazards.
 3.  Assist teacher in maintaining the cafeteria, classroom, and playground in a safe manner for students.
 4.  Promoting positive student behavior and social interactions.
 5.  Monitor and/or supervise the student behavior and safety in the cafeteria, playground, or classroom.
 6.  Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
 1.  Oral and written communication skills.
 2.  Interpersonal skills.
 3.  English language skills.
 4.  Personal computer and keyboarding skills.
 5.  Customer service and public relations skills and professionalism.
 6.  Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
 7.  Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
 8.  Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, use time efficiently, demonstrate attention to detail, follow instructions, and respond to management direction.
 9.  Ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
10.  Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies, and building and department procedures.
11.  Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. 
12.  Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
Materials & Equipment Operating Knowledge:
 1.  Basic operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.
 2.  Basic operating knowledge of and experience with office software.
 3.  Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, E-mail, etc.
 4.  May require operating knowledge of computer networks and applications.
Salary:
Monitors (Lunchroom / Playground / Crossing Guards) are on the Classified Salary Schedule
- These positions are considered HOURLY positions and do not qualify for experience pay increments.
- These positions are paid at the minimum of the Grade 1 pay Grade
