Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Located in Clewiston, FL, this contract opportunity seeks an experienced Director of Pharmacy to serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) at an acute care facility. The role begins with training starting April 1st, transitioning to PIC responsibilities by April 6th, and coverage will continue until the position is filled internally. This position operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to approximately 4:30-5:00 PM, with no weekend work required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide pharmacy leadership with a focus on inpatient services across ICU, outpatient infusion, surgery, and medical-surgical units.
- Prepare and maintain compliance for The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation and Florida Board of Pharmacy regulations.
- Manage pharmacy operations, including sterile compounding oversight (primarily performed by technicians).
- Support and collaborate with limited pharmacy staff (3 pharmacy technicians, 1 full-time pharmacist, and 4 PRN pharmacists).
- Utilize CPSI order entry system (experience preferred; training available) and Omnicell automation (experience preferred; training available).
- Oversee compliance with Collaborative Pharmacy Agreements (CPA) within CPSI.
- Maintain attention to regulatory requirements during a critical accreditation window without prior annual BOP inspections.
Desired Qualifications:
- Florida Pharmacist and Consultant licensure required.
- Minimum of 3 years of management experience in inpatient pharmacy practice.
- Proficient knowledge of sterile compounding standards and TJC requirements.
- Prior experience with CPSI and Omnicell systems is a plus; willingness to learn is essential.
