Job description

We're currently hiring for Full Time Utility Locator Technicians in the Saint Paul, MN area (including Maplewood, Oakdale and Little Canada areas) and are looking for EXPERIENCED Technicians!

$1,000 Retention Bonus - Payable after 90 days of employment

$3,000 Experienced Locator Referral Bonus - Payable when the referred experienced locator remains employed for at least 90 days

$5,000 Sign-On Bonus for Experienced Locators (Must have 1 year verifiable experience locating gas and/or electric to qualify) - Payable after 90 days of employment

All of our field technicians are provided with:

  • Safety gear including company boot (allowance), vests, glasses, etc.
  • Computer device
  • Company issued truck (start your day right from home!)
  • Company fuel card (yes, we pay your gas!)
  • Comprehensive Benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance, 401K, Life insurance and short term Disability
    • Affordable coverage available, including single coverage at low or no cost depending on earnings (up to $78/biweekly)


Responsibilities:

Line locators will work under the direction of their company supervisor, performing work that involves visual inspection of predefined construction areas and reading and interpretation of utility maps to determine the presence of underground utilities, while using special electronic equipment to locate and protect the utility from being damaged. Some of these utilities include gas, electric, water, cable, sewer and more.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license (Must be able to present a physical Driver's License card, other documentation is not accepted)
  • Upon employment, subject to random drug testing in compliance with DOT guidelines
  • Must be able to work overtime when duties cannot be performed within a normal work schedule
  • Previous underground Utility Locating experience for Gas and/or Electric
  • Must live near the Saint Paul, MN area or be willing to relocate to the area if not local

Working Conditions and Hours:

  • Outdoor work environment
  • Driving company vehicle to and from work sites
  • Normal working hours are 7:30am-5pm, Monday through Friday; weekend work required when needed

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Successfully complete the company’s training program and pass applicable written and field tests
  • Develop a general knowledge of state and local damage prevention regulations
  • Learn and apply safety measure relating to motor vehicle operation and other field related matters
