Job description

We're currently hiring for Locator Technicians!

Experienced Locators are preferred, but we are also accepting inexperienced applicants and will provide paid training!

All of our field technicians are provided with:

  • Safety gear including company boot (allowance), vests, glasses, etc.
  • Military-grade computer device
  • The company issued truck with home garaging privileges
  • Company fuel card (yes, we pay your gas!)
  • Comprehensive Benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance, 401K, Life insurance and short term Disability (FULL paid health insurance for employee only coverage!)

Responsibilities:

Line locators will work under the direction of their company supervisor, performing work that involves visual inspection of predefined construction areas and reading and interpretation of utility maps to determine the presence of underground utilities, while using special electronic equipment to locate and protect the utility from being damaged. Some of these utilities include gas, electric, water, cable, sewer and more.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment screenings: Drug test, background check, and driving record
  • Upon employment, subject to random drug testing in compliance with DOT guidelines
  • Must be able to work overtime when duties cannot be performed within a normal work schedule
  • Able to self-manage and communicate with supervisors and clients in a timely manner

Working Conditions and Hours:

  • Hours are M-F, 7:00am - 5:00pm
  • Outdoor work environment: up to 10-12 miles of walking on different terrains
  • Driving company vehicle to and from work sites (40-100+ miles daily as required by the assigned geographic locating area)

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Successfully complete the company’s training program and pass applicable written and field tests
  • Develop a general knowledge of state and local damage prevention regulations
  • Learn and apply safety measure relating to motor vehicle operation and other field related matters
