Founded in 2015, the company serves a collection of seven world-class owned venues and a client roster of the most iconic arenas, stadiums, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions, spanning four continents.
Position Summary
The Events Intern will support the planning and execution of events across three Oak View Group-managed venues: the Owensboro Convention Center, Owensboro Sportscenter, and Bluegrass Fieldhouse. This role provides hands-on experience in live event operations, including conventions, trade shows, meetings, and a strong emphasis on sporting events.
This role pays an hourly rate of $15.00
This role is expected to last from June 1st, 2026 and will end on August 14th, 2026.
This position will remain open until June 1st, 2026.
About the Venue
The Owensboro Convention Center is a full-service facility that hosts conventions, trade shows, banquets, and meetings. The venue includes exhibit halls, meeting rooms, and in-house food and beverage services.
The Owensboro Sportscenter is a multi-purpose arena that hosts sporting events, tournaments, and community events. The Bluegrass Fieldhouse supports indoor sports, tournaments, and local programming. The facility is comprised of seven hardwood basketball courts which convert to volleyball, futsal, pickleball, and more.
Together, these venues serve as a hub for events in Owensboro and Western Kentucky.
Responsibilities
  • Assist Event Managers with the planning, coordination, and execution of events across all three venues
  • Support event setup and breakdown, ensuring spaces are prepared according to event specifications
  • Provide on-site event support, including client interaction and troubleshooting during events
  • Assist in coordinating and supervising part-time event staff, including scheduling support and event-day assignments
  • Help maintain and organize event-related inventory, including radios, signage, and operational supplies
  • Support internal communication and documentation related to event planning and execution
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures related to operations, guest service, and safety
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to planning discussions as needed
  • Complete special projects and administrative tasks as assigned

Key Learnings:
  • Gain end-to-end exposure to the event planning lifecycle, from concept through execution and post-event wrap up.
  • Develop and manage detailed event timelines to ensure seamless coordination before, during, and after events.
  • Build hands-on experience in event operations, including setup, guest experience, and real-time problem solving.
  • Strengthen collaboration, communication and stakeholder management skills when working with teams, clients, and vendors.

Qualifications
  • Current college junior, senior, or graduate student preferred; major in Sports Management, Business, Hospitality, or a related field
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends based on event schedules
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods during events
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar tools preferred
