Job description

We are looking for a Senior Fire Alarm Service Technician / Programmer to join a growing fire alarm team. This is a senior level position focused on programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and service of commercial fire alarm systems.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical technician who can work independently in the field, diagnose problems, program systems, and take an engineered design through final field execution.

Responsibilities

  • Program, commission, troubleshoot, and service commercial fire alarm systems

  • Work primarily with Notifier, Fire Lite, Potter, and similar commercial fire alarm platforms

  • Take engineered fire alarm designs into the field and complete programming and system startup

  • Diagnose and resolve issues at the panel, device, circuit, and system level

  • Perform service calls, system modifications, upgrades, testing, and repairs

  • Read and interpret fire alarm drawings and understand system sequence of operations

  • Work independently while communicating effectively with customers, project teams, and other technicians

  • Provide technical support and mentorship to developing fire alarm technicians

  • Perform approximately 80% technical service, programming, and troubleshooting work with approximately 20% installation and cabling support as needed

Qualifications

  • Strong commercial fire alarm experience

  • Hands on programming experience preferred

  • Advanced service and troubleshooting experience will also be considered for technicians who are looking to expand their programming capabilities

  • Experience with Notifier, Fire Lite, Potter, or comparable commercial fire alarm systems

  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in the field

  • Ability to read drawings and understand engineered fire alarm systems

  • Professional communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to work throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont

  • Massachusetts Class D license preferred

  • Candidates currently working toward a Massachusetts Class D license will also be considered

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive compensation based on experience and technical ability

  • Quarterly bonus opportunities based on field performance, including productive service time and administrative efficiency

  • Senior level position with opportunities to continue developing programming and technical expertise

  • If you are a fire alarm technician who wants to spend more of your time programming systems, troubleshooting complex issues, and solving technical problems rather than pulling cable every day, this is an opportunity worth exploring
