 AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE MANAGER – NOW HIRING

Mike Terry Chevrolet in Refugio, Texas is hiring an experienced Automotive Service Manager who knows how to run a successful service department, lead a motivated team, and build a long-term career. SUMMARY

Runs an efficient and profitable service department through productive staffing, customer retention, cost controls, achievement of objectives, and maintenance of all service records. Ensures that the daily inventory of technicians’ time is consistently sold to service customers.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Forecasts goals and objectives for the department and strives to meet them.

  • Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors performance of all service department staff.

  • Prepares and administers an annual operating budget for the service department.

  • Maintains reporting systems required by general management and the factory.

  • Attends manager meetings.

  • Monitors and controls departmental performance using reports, tracking systems, and surveys.

  • Strives for harmony and teamwork within the department and across all departments.

  • Develops and implements a marketing plan promoting new and repeat business.

  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, hazardous waste, etc.).

  • Oversees manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.

  • Holds weekly department meetings.

  • Directs and schedules all department employee activities.

  • Conducts and facilitates technical training as needed.

  • Monitors technician productivity and payroll records.

  • Coordinates parts orders with the parts manager to ensure availability.

  • Approves all repair orders before warranty submission, ensuring sales and hours accuracy.

  • Maintains customer relationships to encourage repeat and referral business.

  • Ensures repair quality, spot-checks jobs for completeness and accuracy.

  • Keeps all work areas and customer spaces clean and professional.

  • Builds recruitment relationships with technical schools.

  • Serves as liaison with factory representatives.

  • Maintains special tool inventory and customer service files.

  • Ensures prompt customer greeting, accurate estimates, and professional communication.

  • Handles all customer complaints per dealership policy.

  • Performs 24-hour follow-up calls for customer satisfaction.

  • Maintains a safe work environment and professional appearance.

  • Performs other tasks as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Proven record of running or assisting a successful service department.

  • Commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 4–10 years of progressive automotive service experience preferred.


CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES
  • ASE Certifications (Auto/Light Truck, Medium/Heavy Truck, or Collision Repair).

  • I-CAR Advanced Training Certificates.

  • State Vehicle Inspector & Emissions Certifications.

  • Valid Driver’s License required.
