Job Description

The Securities Valuation Office (SVO) of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) is hiring a Credit Analyst II. This full‑time hybrid position requires residency within 100 miles of the NewYork, NY office.

Responsibilities
  • Perform credit analysis of assigned sectors of corporate or structured securities in a wide variety of industries to establish appropriate rating.
  • Analyze security structure & legal agreements, financial statements and credit viability of issuer, peer analysis, industry data, economic trends, and relevant third‑party support, collateral or lease agreements.
  • Prepare concise written credit reports and make verbal presentations to the credit committee.
  • Document ratings rationale in Initial Filing or Annual Update reports, ensuring adherence to internal analysis standards.
  • Respond to verbal and written appeals.
  • Achieve productivity and timeliness requirements.
  • Review Regulatory Treatment Analysis Service requests and prep written reports for credit committee review.
  • Identify and participate in internal and external professional development opportunities to broaden analytical skill set.
  • Develop working knowledge of the Purposes and Procedures Manual of the Investment Analysis Office and the Accounting Practices & Procedures Manual of the NAIC.
  • Produce research on industry trends/issues relevant to regulators.
  • Respond to informational requests from regulators, insurers, NRSROs, investment bankers, etc.
  • Maintain interpersonal skills to disseminate information and viewpoints to a variety of customers, including regulators.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master's degree (M.A., M.B.A. in Finance) or equivalent and/or CFA.
  • 5‑10 years of experience with at least 5+ years of fundamental credit analysis.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience performing credit analysis at a Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organization (NRSRO or credit rating agency).
Systems & Technology
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), Microsoft Windows, Bloomberg, and similar software.
  • Advanced programming capabilities with these tools is a plus.
Compensation

$128,237 up to $195,000, commensurate with education and experience.
