Job description

Summary

Resource Coordinator, under the general supervision of the Manager, improves resident quality of life and preserves housing stock. Through intake and Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections, the role assists low-to-moderate income and disabled citizens via the Housing Improvement Program and external referrals. Responsibilities include implementing neighborhood plans, coordinating local projects, and building partnerships with support agencies for the benefit of the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifies and maintains a working knowledge of local and community resources and referral agencies to assist residents, business owners, and property owners to achieve voluntary code compliance and assistance for home repair, housing and local programs
  • Connects neighbors to community resources including home repair, new construction, medical services, mental health services, crime victim services, employment and training programs, food pantries, public assistance, Social Security Income/Social Security Disability Insurance, childcare, transportation, subsidized housing opportunities and legal assistance
  • Assists clients with the completion of applications for services
  • Coordinates collection and compilation of necessary data and information for program reports, evaluation, and key performance indicators
  • Works with volunteer groups to plan, coordinate and implement a cleanup and yard maintenance events
  • Facilitates volunteer recruitment and organization through VOMO for community events
  • Coordinates the Neighborhood Party Trailer reservations and deposits through RecTrac
  • Provides ongoing coordination for the Good Neighbor Program in assigned districts
  • Provides ongoing coordination for any Team Up to Clean Up events in assigned districts
  • Provides support for various Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funded activities and projects
  • Assists with implementation of the Housing Improvement Program by providing home assessments for properties and assisting clients with applications
  • Provides support for various Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) funded activities and projects
  • Assists with the Homeowner Assistance and Reconstruction Program (HARP) by gathering documentation from applicants to meet eligibility requirements
  • Assists with the Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program (TBRA) by completing HQS inspections for participating units
  • Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Combination of education and experience to a Bachelor’s Degree in social services, public administration, or social work
  • Three (3) years of experience in case management, community outreach, volunteer coordination

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience with construction trades or home improvement
  • InterNACHI Certified Professional Inspector (CPI) Certification or equivalent
  • Lead Paint Certification

Certifications and Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license
