Our co-op placements provide you with an excellent opportunity to practically apply your 
classroom and technical training in the reinsurance industry. While with our team, you'll be; 
coached by experienced industry professionals, exposed to Munich Re leadership, challenged as a 
valuable team member and contributor doing meaningful work, and mentored to develop a solid 
foundation that will help position you as a future leader in the field.  

Munich Re is operating under a hybrid working model, including 3 days in office/week 
with the remaining days working from home. Students are expected to relocate to the city in which 
they work for the duration of their co-op/internship, so they can fully benefit from the full program 
integration. 


Position Overview 
As a Business Analyst Intern on the Treaty Underwriting team, you will play a key role in driving data-driven 
decision-making and operational efficiency. You will work closely with underwriters and cross-functional 
teams to build scalable solutions that enhance underwriting effectiveness through automation, analytics and 
AI.  
Job Responsibilities 
Work term responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following: 
Develop and maintain business reporting and visualizations to deliver actionable insights and support 
strategic decision-making. 
Automate and optimize data pipelines and system architecture to improve scalability, reduce 
complexity, and enhance performance. 
Identify and resolve data quality issues, troubleshoot ELT processes, and address production-related 
challenges across systems. 
Design and implement AI-powered solutions to improve underwriting efficiency and effectiveness. 
Collaborate with underwriters to integrate Generative AI and Large Language Models into core 
underwriting workflows. 
Assist underwriters in ingesting client submissions and transforming them into data products that 
support underwriting excellence. 
Maintain and enhance technical documentation for existing infrastructure, and contribute to new 
documentation as tools and systems evolve.

 
Qualifications  
First and foremost, we're looking for well-rounded individuals who are professional, have great 
communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and 
external clients.  You'll be joining an energetic and goal-oriented team that uses a collaborative approach to 
working within all areas of the company, and focuses on achieving the greater objectives of Munich Re.  


Specifically, we're looking for the following qualifications: 
   Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Data Analytics, Business Administration/Commerce, 
Economics, Computer Science, or equivalent program - and in healthy academic standing; 
   Solid foundation in programming (Python, SQL and R) and a demonstrated understanding of relational 
databases 
   Proficient in Microsoft Power Platform, particularly in: Power BI, Power Automate; 
   Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint; 
   Excellent communication skills - spoken & written, formal/informal presentation; 
   Experience with Azure Databricks and Azure DevOps (including Git) is an asset; 
   Mathematical aptitude; 
   Exhibits solid organizational skills and rigorous attention to detail/accuracy in a fast-paced environment - particularly in relation to data entry; 
   Proven capability to multi-task and successfully self-manage multiple priorities and projects of various 
significance; 
   Effective working both independently and as part of a greater team; 
   Demonstrates leadership qualities - clear-thinking, curiosity, integrity, and drive; 
   Preference for candidates who have relevant work experience, having already completed at least one 
placement (or approx. 4+ months in-field experience). 

Note that this opportunity is open to both current students who are returning to in-class studies upon the completion of the work term, as well as recent graduates who have obtained their degree within the past year.

Our base salary range for this role is between $850 and $1300 per week, plus vacation pay. The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary ranges for candidates based on the number of relevant co-op terms completed. This role is located in our Toronto office on 390 Bay St, and we operate in a hybrid work model.
