Job description

A selective litigation practice is seeking a talented Civil Litigation Associate Attorney with sophisticated private practice experience. This role is ideal for an attorney who wants increased responsibility, direct involvement in litigation strategy, and meaningful courtroom exposure.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will have 4–7 years of private practice civil litigation experience and a demonstrated ability to manage litigation matters independently. Candidates should have experience beyond supporting roles and should be comfortable taking ownership of case strategy, discovery, motion practice, and client communication.

Key Responsibilities

The attorney will:

  • Manage sophisticated civil litigation matters
  • Develop and execute litigation strategy
  • Conduct legal research and prepare written advocacy
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery materials
  • Draft dispositive motions and appellate briefs
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Coordinate expert witnesses
  • Participate in trial preparation and mediations
  • Attend court appearances
  • Communicate directly with clients
  • Supervise junior attorneys when appropriate

Candidate Profile

Qualified candidates should have:

  • 4–7 years of sophisticated private practice civil litigation experience preferred
  • Private practice civil litigation experience required
  • Experience in independently managing litigation matters
  • Strong legal writing and advocacy skills
  • Interest in obtaining significant courtroom responsibility
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Preferred Top 40–Top 50 law school background, with Top 14 strongly favored
  • Preferred law school GPA of 3.5+
  • Judicial clerkship experience valued
  • Colorado Bar admission or eligibility

Compensation

The position offers a lockstep associate salary structure:

  • Year 1: $210,000
  • Year 2: $220,000
  • Year 3: $235,000
  • Year 4: $265,000
  • Year 5: $300,000
  • Year 6: $325,000
  • Year 7: $345,000
  • Year 8: $360,000

Additional compensation may include:

  • Annual merit bonus eligibility
