    Job description

In this role, you'll assess how long-term regulatory, economic, and industry trends will shape the reliability, efficiency, and adequacy of generation and transmission infrastructure. You'll dive deep into the complex interactions of our energy systems-like the critical relationship between natural gas and electricity networks-to identify emerging risks and inform bold, forward-looking decisions.
This position is both technical and strategic, ideal for someone who can translate complex data into clear insights and actionable recommendations. You'll present your findings to internal teams, regulators, and industry leaders-helping to shape policy, align stakeholders, and drive long-term planning.
    Key Responsibilities Include:
    • Analyzing industry trends and regulatory developments to assess their impact on power system planning.
    • Evaluating the reliability and adequacy of the grid using advanced engineering and economic tools.
    • Monitoring emerging energy issues, including gas-electric interdependencies, to guide strategy and mitigate risk.
    • Creating compelling reports and presentations tailored to a range of audiences.
    • Collaborating across teams to solve tough challenges and ensure regulatory alignment.
    • Engaging with regulators and industry partners to build consensus and support sound decision-making.

We're looking for talented professionals with:
    • Bachelor's degree in Economic, Engineering, Business, Public Policy, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline.
    • A minimum of three (3) years of related power systems engineering, economics, policy development, natural gas systems engineering, environmental issues management, or regulatory standards experience required.

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
This is a unique opportunity to help modernize and secure the energy systems that power millions-if you're ready to lead with insight and shape what's next, we want to hear from you.
The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $118,000-$128,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience.
Position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met. At MISO we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including 401k, vacation, sick and safe time, available on your first day of employment.
Transformative innovation is happening in the electric industry, from digitalizing homes and distributed resources to renewable energy and an ever-changing grid. MISO manages the electricity superhighway in the Central U.S. and using groundbreaking research and sophisticated technology, our highly skilled employees ensure power flows reliably to 45 million Americans. Operating the electricity grid, running a robust energy market, planning for a bright future - it's what our immensely hard-working and dedicated team does every day.
