Job description

Real Estate Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Real Estate Associate Attorney with 4–6 years of law firm experience to join a leading Am Law firm and its highly regarded Real Estate Practice Group. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced real estate attorney to work on sophisticated transactions across a broad range of asset classes and take on increasing responsibility in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will have broad transactional real estate experience, including acquisitions and dispositions, construction and permanent financings, joint ventures, and real estate investments. Experience representing both lenders and borrowers, as well as experience with portfolio transactions, REITs, and real estate funds, is highly valued.

Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in sophisticated commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions.

  • Handle construction and permanent financing transactions, representing both lenders and borrowers.

  • Advise clients on joint ventures, including equity joint venture investments, structuring, and entity formation.

  • Work on portfolio transactions, REIT matters, and real estate fund investments.

  • Advise clients across a broad range of asset classes, including residential, industrial, office, retail, hospitality, and land.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate purchase agreements, financing documents, joint venture agreements, organizational documents, and other transaction-related agreements.

  • Work collaboratively with attorneys across practice areas and offices to develop practical, innovative solutions to complex client matters.

  • Take on increasing levels of responsibility and maintain strong client relationships.

Qualifications
  • 4–6 years of law firm experience focused on transactional real estate matters.

  • Experience with acquisitions and dispositions, construction and permanent financings, and joint ventures.

  • Experience representing both lenders and borrowers preferred.

  • Experience with portfolio transactions, REITs, and real estate funds.

  • Experience with equity joint venture investments, structuring, and entity formation.

  • Familiarity with transactions involving a broad range of real estate asset types.

  • Strong academic credentials.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong work ethic and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.

  • Demonstrated interest in taking on increased responsibility on client matters.

  • Admission to the New York State Bar or eligibility for admission by waiver required.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position is $310,000–$390,000 annually, depending on location, class year, experience, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits.
