This role partners closely with internal stakeholders and external collaborators—including clients, data providers, and reinsurers—to contribute to the development of insights and product improvements. Responsibilities include assisting in the design and execution of mortality studies, analyzing results, and translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations.

The Analyst will also contribute to the development of foundational analytical assets and support innovation efforts that power Irix. This includes working with industry-leading mortality data, supporting study development and application, and collaborating across teams to inform product strategy and advance analytical capabilities.

    What you will be doing

    • Support the Irix product research pipeline by gathering market feedback, contributing to research scoping, and assisting in prioritization efforts
    • Perform hands-on analysis to support mortality studies, product enhancements, and research initiatives
    • Contribute to the development, maintenance, and delivery of mortality study outputs, including reports, dashboards, databases, and tools
    • Translate research findings into clear insights and actionable recommendations in partnership with product, software development, and other technical teams
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Data Science and product teams, to support model development, feature ideation, and performance monitoring
    • Assist in evaluating and communicating the value of new and existing products through analysis and client-facing deliverables
    • Create clear, high-quality documentation and support standards for transparency, quality, and reproducibility
    • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver insights and materials that meet client needs and highlight product value
    • Support the creation of thought leadership materials, including presentations, webinars, and white papers
    • Contribute to experimentation and prototyping efforts by analyzing results and helping iterate on ideas quickly
    • Assist in developing internal tools and resources to improve product and research efficiency
    • Present findings and insights to stakeholders to support awareness and decision-making
    • Ensure compliance with data governance standards and secure handling of data assets

    What we need

    • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or another quantitative field
    • 1+ years of experience in analytics, actuarial science, data science, or product R&D
    • Experience working with prescription and medical claims data
    • Understanding of underwriting principles and key drivers of mortality and morbidity risk
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to connect detailed analysis to broader business objectives
    • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and contribute to shared initiatives

    • Proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools
    • Familiarity with programming and data tools such as R, Python, Databricks, Jira, and Confluence

What you bring to the table

    • Generate new approaches to problems or innovations to established approaches; think and look outside the box
    • Detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Proactive and positive approach to solving problems and correcting issues
    • Eager to learn and grow, actively seeks out learning opportunities and feedback to enhance professional development
    • Demonstrate adaptability to new ideas and effectively integrate new knowledge and skills into daily tasks
    • Identify and suggest areas for improvement, assist in implementing changes, and monitor results with minimal supervision
    • Passionate about teaching, mentoring, motivating, and supporting others

    Wish list

    • Experience working with clinical data and/or clinical rule engines
    • Familiarity with predictive modeling and machine learning techniques
    • Experience developing data analytics applications or tools
    • Experience in the software-as-a-service (SaaS) or insurance underwriting industry
    • Exposure to product management and/or product R&D environments
    • Experience presenting insights to clients and incorporating feedback into solutions
    • Experience supporting or leading quality assurance (QA) and user acceptance testing (UAT) for software development
