    Job description

    Mathnasium of South Surrey is looking for an experienced, energetic, and people-focused Centre Director to take operational

    ownership of our learning centre and help us deliver exceptional results for our students, families, and team.

    This is a business and people leadership role within an education environment. You'll lead a team, build relationships withfamilies and the local community, drive enrollment and revenue, develop staff, oversee daily operations, and ensure students receive an exceptional learning experience.

    Roles and Responsibilies

    Lead the Centre & Team

    • Take operational ownership of the centre's day-to-day operations and overall performance.
    • Hire, train, schedule, and coach instructional staff.
    • Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance and quality.
    • Lead and develop the team by providing coaching, feedback, and ongoing support.
    • Create a positive, professional, and energetic team culture.
    • Monitor key performance indicators and take action to improve centre performance.
    • Step in wherever needed to support students, families, and the team.

    Build the Business & Community Presence

    • Develop relationships with local schools, community organizations, and other partners to increase awareness of Mathnasium and generate new business.
    • Identify and pursue local business-development and community-outreach opportunities.
    • Represent Mathnasium at appropriate community events, school activities, and local initiatives.
    • Develop referral relationships with families, schools, and community partners.
    • Support local marketing initiatives and evaluate their effectiveness.
    • Take an active role in generating leads and growing centre enrollment.

    Build Family Relationships & Drive Enrollment

    • Respond promptly and professionally to prospective-family inquiries and follow up consistently.
    • Conduct student assessments and parent consultations to understand each student's needs and goals.
    • Clearly communicate assessment results and recommend appropriate learning solutions.
    • Confidently guide prospective families through the enrollment process.
    • Build strong, long-term relationships with existing families through excellent customer service and proactive communication.
    • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, goals, and opportunities for improvement.

    Drive Student Success & Quality

    • Ensure students receive high-quality instruction using the Mathnasium Method.
    • Review student progress and ensure learning plans remain appropriate as students develop.
    • Support instructors in identifying learning gaps and adapting instruction appropriately.
    • Maintain a positive, safe, and professional learning environment.
    • Become proficient with Mathnasium's educational systems, digital tools, and operational processes.

    What We're Looking For (Skills and Qualifications)

    We are not looking for someone who is simply good at math. We're looking for someone who has demonstrated that they can lead people, build customer relationships, drive results, and take ownership of a business or operation.

    • 3+ years of progressive experience in sales, business development, customer success, operations, or people management.
    • Proven experience leading or managing a team.
    • Demonstrated responsibility for measurable results such as sales, revenue, enrollment, customer retention, or busines performance.
    • Strong customer-facing and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with families and confidently recommend solutions.
    • Comfortable with consultative sales, follow-up, and business development
    • Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
    • Enjoys coaching and developing others.
    • Enjoys working with children and genuinely care about their success.
    • Strong mathematical ability through at least Algebra I.
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; business, education, math, or related background is an asset

     

    This Is a Leadership & Business Role. While you'll work directly with students, the Centre Director is responsible for leading the team, building relationships with families, growing the business, and ensuring student success.

    This role combines people leadership, sales, business development, customer relationships, operations, and education. If you're looking primarily for a tutoring position, this is not the right role for you.
