Job description

Pharmacist who works closely with other pharmacy staff to receive prescription orders and oversee prescription refills.

RoleandResponsibilities

  • Fillprescriptionsandreviewprescriptionsfilled byPharmacyTechnicians.

  • Providedruginformationandpatientcounselingasrequiredbylaw.

  • Maintainmedicationinvoices,includingcontrolledsubstanceinvoices.

  • Performinventoriesrequiredbylaw.

  • Provideguidanceandcounselingtosupportpersonnel.

  • Maintaingoodrelationshipwithclinicmanagementandclinicalstaff.

  • Interpretmedicationorders/prescriptionsandreviewpatient'smedicationprofile for drug-druginteractions,appropriatedosing,andallergies.

  • Maintainpropermedicationstorageconditionsandmaintaintemperaturelogsasrequired.

  • Understandprescriptionbillingrequirementsfordifferentpayors,includingcommercial, Medicaid, andMedicare-D

  • Provideoversightofmedicationdistributiontoremotecliniclocations.

  • Demonstrateandpromoteexcellentcustomerservice.

  • Otherdutiesasassigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy; Pharm.D. preferred

  • Holds an active license from the Texas Board of Pharmacy; license is in good standing.

Experience

  • Minimum of two years of pharmacist practice in retail, ambulatory, or hospital outpatient settings.

Work Schedule

  • Monday through Friday schedule; hours to coincide with clinic schedule.

  • Position is located within Helen Farabee

  • Available on weekends for emergency telephone consultation.

Skills/Competencies

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to communicate with prescribers and patients.

  • Demonstrates current knowledge of medication use and disease management.

  • Demonstrates computer skills necessary to manage prescription dispensing. Understand quality control procedures and confidentiality requirements.

  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel software.

  • Demonstrates ability to manage personnel.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Pharmacists should have a degree of physical stamina as they might need to stand for longer periods of their shift when helping customers with filing prescriptions. Regularly operates a computer, mouse, keyboard, and occasionally operates other standard office equipment, such as printer, copier, phone.
