Loop Jobs Information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Product Manufacturing, and why are they important?

To thrive in Product Manufacturing, a solid understanding of production processes, quality control, and safety protocols is essential, often supported by a relevant technical degree or vocational training. Familiarity with manufacturing equipment, ERP systems, and industry certifications like Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing are highly valued. Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and effective problem-solving skills help individuals excel in this environment. These competencies ensure efficient production, high-quality output, and the ability to adapt to process improvements and challenges.

What are some common challenges faced in a Product Manufacturing role and how can they be managed?

Product Manufacturing professionals often encounter challenges such as maintaining quality standards while meeting tight production deadlines, adapting to changes in demand, and troubleshooting equipment issues. Effective communication with team members and other departments, such as engineering and quality assurance, is key to quickly resolving issues and keeping production on track. Utilizing lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement strategies can help teams address inefficiencies and reduce waste, contributing to a smoother workflow and better product outcomes.

What is product manufacturing?

Product manufacturing is the process of producing goods on a large scale using labor, machinery, tools, and chemical or biological processing. It involves transforming raw materials into finished products that are ready for sale or distribution. This process can include designing, engineering, assembling, and quality testing to ensure products meet required standards. Product manufacturing is a critical part of many industries, including electronics, automotive, food, and textiles.

What is the difference between Product Manufacturing vs Product Assembly?

AspectProduct ManufacturingProduct Assembly

Work EnvironmentFactories, production linesWorkstations, assembly lines
Industry UsageMass production, large-scale factoriesFinal product setup, component fitting

Product manufacturing involves the entire process of creating products from raw materials, including designing, fabricating, and testing. Product assembly focuses on putting together components to complete the final product. While manufacturing covers the broader process, assembly is a key step within it, often requiring less specialized credentials but essential for completing the product.

Job description

About Critical Loop

Critical Loop is shaping the next generation of energy systems by building the integrated edge grid of the future. Specializing in advanced energy management and battery control systems, Critical Loop empowers businesses and communities to seamlessly unite distributed energy resources for faster, more reliable, and affordable grid access. With deep expertise in grid modernization and a passion for creating resilient, responsive energy solutions, Critical Loop drives innovation at the intersection of technology and energy.

About the Role:

We're looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to help design and deploy next-generation energy systems at the intersection of power infrastructure, battery energy storage, and distributed energy resources (DERs). This role is ideal for someone who understands the intent behind electrical codes, not just the letter, and can thoughtfully navigate compliance while enabling innovation.

You'll work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment where new ideas move quickly from concept to deployment. If you're energized by solving complex power challenges and pushing technical boundaries responsibly, this is the role for you.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead electrical design and engineering for power systems, including battery energy storage systems (BESS), microgrids, and DER integrations

  • Design and review electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, panelboards, and custom electrical panels

  • Develop and review single-line diagrams, protection schemes, grounding plans, and equipment specifications

  • Engage directly with customers and partners to support technical discussions, project development, and issue resolution

  • Participate in site visits, commissioning activities, and field troubleshooting as needed

  • Ensure designs comply with NEC, local codes, UL standards, and utility requirements while identifying opportunities for creative, compliant solutions

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, manufacturing, and operations teams to bring projects from concept through commissioning

  • Interface with utilities, AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction), and inspection bodies to support project approvals

  • Perform power system studies (load flow, short circuit, coordination, arc flash) and validate system performance

  • Stay current with evolving codes, standards, and emerging technologies in energy storage and distributed generation

What We're Looking For:

Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 7+ years of experience in power systems, energy storage, renewables, or related fields

  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and its real-world application

  • Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar PV, microgrids, or other DERs

  • Hands-on experience with electrical panel design, including layout, component selection, and integration into larger power systems

  • Proficiency in power system analysis tools

  • Proficiency in industry-standard electrical CAD tools

  • Experience working with utilities and navigating interconnection processes

  • Demonstrated ability to develop engineering processes, standards, or best practices

  • Ability to interpret codes pragmatically and propose compliant, forward-thinking solutions

  • Willingness to travel (estimated 25%, depending on project needs)

Preferred

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • Familiarity with UL 508A or similar panel standards

  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

What Sets You Apart:
  • You understand not just what the code says, but why it exists-and when flexibility is appropriate

  • You bring both system-level thinking and hands-on design experience (down to the panel level)

  • You've helped build or scale engineering processes in a growing organization

  • You're comfortable operating in ambiguity and moving quickly without sacrificing engineering integrity

  • You've worked on projects that required creative problem-solving within regulatory constraints

  • You enjoy collaborating across disciplines and influencing technical direction

Why Join Critical Loop?

  • Compensation: $150,000 to $200,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus equity

  • Real ownership from day one. You'll shape how we build and scale engineering as one of the earliest senior engineers on the team.

  • Work that actually ships. We move fast from concept to deployment, and you'll see your designs in the field.

  • A problem space worth solving. Grid reliability and energy access are some of the most consequential infrastructure challenges of the next decade, and this team is working on them directly.

Critical Loop is an equal opportunity employer. We're committed to building a diverse team and creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic under applicable law.
