Commercial AV Install Technician - Level 1

Role Summary
The Level 1 Install Technician is an entry-level position on the commercial installation team responsible for supporting the physical installation of audiovisual systems under the direction of Lead Technicians and Project Managers. This role focuses on cable infrastructure, device mounting, equipment rack assembly, and system trim-out in accordance with AVIXA/InfoComm installation standards and Logic Integration quality standards.

Core Responsibilities
Cable Infrastructure & Termination
โข Pull, route, and support low-voltage cabling (Cat6/6A, coax, fiber, speaker, control) per AVIXA/InfoComm cable management standards
โข Terminate connectors including RJ45, RJ11, BNC, XLR, SpeakON, Phoenix, RCA, HDMI, and fiber (SC/LC) per manufacturer specifications
โข Tone, test, and certify cabling using appropriate test equipment (cable testers, multimeters, tone generators)
โข Label all cabling and pathways per project documentation and Logic Integration labeling standards
โข Maintain proper cable separation, bend radius, and support intervals per ANSI/TIA and AVIXA standards
Equipment Installation & Mounting
โข Install and mount AV equipment including displays, projectors, speakers, cameras, microphones, and control devices
โข Assemble and wire equipment racks including rack rails, shelves, rear lacing bars, and power distribution
โข Trim out in-wall and in-ceiling devices (speakers, faceplates, data ports) ensuring level, plumb, and aligned installation using laser levels
โข Support installation of videoconference systems, digital signage, and collaboration technology
Job Site Operations
โข Read and interpret AV drawings, floor plans, rack elevations, and signal flow diagrams
โข Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times
โข Comply with all job site safety requirements including PPE, OSHA standards, and client-specific safety protocols
โข Coordinate daily with Lead Technician and Project Manager on task priorities and project status
โข Track and report time accurately using company time-tracking systems
โข Maintain company vehicle cleanliness - daily trash removal, weekly deep clean
โข Complete punch-list items in a timely and thorough manner
Teamwork & Communication
โข Take direction from Lead Technicians and Project Managers; ask questions when unclear
โข Assist other technicians with installations, material handling, and equipment staging
โข Communicate professionally with clients, general contractors, and other trades on-site
โข Demonstrate urgency, accountability, and pride in quality of work
Industry Standards Alignment (AVIXA / InfoComm)

โข ANSI/AVIXA A102.01:2017 - AV Installation Standard (rack building, cable management, device mounting)
โข ANSI/TIA-568 - Structured Cabling Standards
โข ANSI/TIA-606 - Administration Standard for Telecommunications Infrastructure (labeling)
โข OSHA Construction Safety Standards (fall protection, PPE, electrical safety)
Familiarity with these standards is a plus; training will be provided.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
โข High school diploma or equivalent
โข Valid driver's license with clean driving record
โข Ability to pass background check and drug screening
โข Authorized to work full-time in the United States
โข Must provide standard hand tools per Logic Integration tool list
โข Ability to safely lift 80 lbs regularly and work on ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and in confined spaces (crawl spaces, equipment closets, above-ceiling)
Preferred Qualifications
โข 1+ year experience in low-voltage installation, AV, IT, electrical, or construction trades
โข Familiarity with AV systems and signal flow concepts
โข Experience with structured cabling and termination techniques
โข AVIXA CTS certification or willingness to pursue within 18 months
โข OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
โข Manufacturer training (Crestron, QSC, Biamp, Shure, etc.) a plus
