Structural Fitter - Pay Range

  • Paid WEEKLY
  • $17hr - $28/hr

Structural Fitter - Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • This opening is a NIGHT SHIFT Fitter Positionย 
  • A Fitter is responsible for the layout and assembly of fabricated parts in accordance with shop drawings using AISC and AWS standards.ย 
  • Lays out, position, align and fit together fabricated parts of structural metal products in the shop, according to blueprint and layout specifications, preparatory to welding or riveting.
  • Locates and marks centerline and reference points onto floor or face block and transposes them to work piece.
  • Moves parts into position, manually or by hoist/overhead crane. Aligns parts and make ready for final assembly.
  • Adheres to all company safety and OSHA regulations.
  • The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
  • Performs non-essential duties as needed.

Structural Fitter - Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent with a certificate from Vo-Tech or Trade school in mechanics.ย 
  • Must be able to fit most structural steel including beams, columns, braces, and simple frames.ย 
  • Must have ability to pass Class B welding test which may include 1G FCAW, 3G FCAW, 4G FCAW, 1G SMAW, 3G SMAW, 4GSMAW, and 1G SAW.ย 
  • Excellent math skills required.ย 
  • Ability to pass a tape measure test is required.

Structural Fitter - Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds frequently.ย 
  • Requires excessive bending, stooping, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing and bending.ย 
  • Exposure to temperature fluctuations and noisy work environment.ย 
  • Considerable amounts of overtime and weekend work required.
  • All of the physical demands listed are essential functions.

This position is deemed 'safety sensitive.'ย Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Lexicon; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. This is a condition of employment.
