Responsibilities & Requirements

To facilitate the efficient operation of the functions that support KH construction projects through leadership and management oversight to ensure timely delivery of all phases of KH's CIP construction projects, misc projects, and facility upgrades. Working under the guidance of the director of construction to execute programming, planning, design and construction. Activating and fulfilling objectives as well as monitoring performance and compliance. The construction manager serves as a liaison between clients, users, consultants, contractors, vendors, and other jurisdictional agencies to bring maximum value to KH projects. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree OR 5 years experience in healthcare construction

Work Experience

Two (2) years of progressive responsibilities and directly related property or construction management and experience with project management work experience to include healthcare and leadership experience

Experience leading and managing change in a large and complex organization

Experience using e-Builder or other capital or construction management software

Licenses, Certification and Registrations

Certified Health Care Constructor (CHC) certification required within one year of hire. Project Management Professional (PMP) accepted as an alternative, particularly for candidates with significant healthcare construction or capital project experience.

Skills

  • Must possess a thorough understanding of construction and project management in a healthcare environment including project budgeting, planning, critical-path scheduling and budget variance analysis; contract review and negotiation; architecture and engineering; organization and planning.
    • Knowledge of healthcare industry and familiarity with the needs and complexities of a comprehensive healthcare network and an understanding of project management
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently, excellent organizational and delegation skills and ability to work collaboratively
    • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and gain cooperation with widely diverse groups within and outside the organization
    • Collaborative, team oriented and team builder. The ability to build trust, consensus and develop collaborative relationships with healthcare constituent groups
    • Ability to bring "best practice" approach to processes and procedures and enhance service orientation for construction project management
    • Ability to budget, make financial projections and write reports
    • Ability to handle potentially sensitive situations by applying consultative skills when working with internal and external constituent groups
    • Skilled in using computer software such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook
    • Resourceful, self-directing, and able to flourish in a fast-paced and demanding work environment

Essential Functions

  • Manage KH's CIP construction projects (including repair and maintenance projects) and make effective use of budgets and schedules in support of KH's capital and operational objectives.
  • Manage subcontract agreements, change orders, and other applicable contract documents
  • The Project Manager will collaborate with KH's project team and contribute to the following tasks:
    • Participate in internal and external construction project meetings (for staff, owner, kick-off and project close-out)
    • Compile and distribute scopes of work, bid packages, and other documents associated with direct vendors
    • Interface with KH's Accounting and Purchasing Departments
    • Assist with the preparation of capital budget forecasts for construction projects
    • Track and review subcontractor and supplier invoices for payment
    • Collect and file all subcontractor and supplier warranty paperwork in e-Builder
    • Collect and file all project as-built drawings, electrical and structural test results in e-Builder
    • Collect O&M manual and other required close-out documents, both internal and external, and file in e-Builder
  • Work with users, architects, and construction contractors to develop the FF&E for all projects including medical equipment. Coordinate with Purchasing to order, buy and deliver FF&E
  • Oversee space allocations and moves in KH buildings primarily supporting network operations
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.
