    Job description

    The Roleย 

    K2 Spaceย operatesย constellations spanning commercial, science, and national security missions using a mix of in-house and legacy ground systems.ย In this role, you willย be responsible forย leading the team in charge of integratingย all ofย these systems into a cohesive, reliable ground network. The ground systems you and your team buildย will be capable of bridging the gap between heterogeneous constellations in space and theย RF and Optical ground segment that controls them. You willย be in charge ofย directing a multi-pronged strategy to invest in K2 ground infrastructure while also engaging with partners to integrate with legacy and 3rdย party ground systems.ย 

    You'llย lead a growing organizationย of engineers, set the technical roadmap, and ensureย we'reย deliveringย ground infrastructureย that moves as fast as our hardware.ย You and your team will collaborate closely with the Ground Software Applications and Flight Software teams to drive new integrations that unlock new mission capabilities for our customers in the classified and unclassified domains.ย 

    Responsibilitiesย 

    • Define and execute the long-termย vision for K2 Space'sย end-to-endย ground systemsย integrationย 
    • Directย and technically leadย investment in new in-house ground infrastructure while managing and building relationships with third-party mission partnersย ย 
    • Integrate with customer teams to architect new ground systems capable of operating at multiple levels of classification while delivering secure andย reliable constellation operationsย 
    • Buildย and supportย a team of capable and experienced ground integration engineers responsible for building the connective tissue between new and legacy ground systemsย 
    • Ensure teams deliver robust, scalable, and secure systems at startup speedย 
    • Represent K2 Space in recruiting, industry events,ย customer interactions,ย and strategic partnershipsย 

    Qualificationsย 

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology,ย mathematicsย or a STEM disciplineย orย 3+ years of professional experience in software engineeringย ย 
    • 8+ years of experience inย softwareย developmentย 
    • 3+ years of leadershipย experienceย at the department or org levelย 
    • Experience with the deployment and integration of sophisticated hardware and software systemsย 
    • Proven success building and scaling high-impact engineering teamsย 
    • Strongย track recordย of delivering enterprise-scaleย solutions in fast-paced environmentsย 
    • Deep experience with classified systems and their security requirementsย 

    Nice to Haveย 

    • Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or mission-criticalย systemsย ย 
    • Proficiencyย in one or more programming languages such as Python, C#.NET, Go, Java, or similarย 
    • Familiarity with modern languages (Python, Go, Java, C#, etc.), cloud systems, CI/CD, and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).ย 
    • A track recordย of fostering team culture, collaboration, and continuous improvement.ย 
    • Understanding of existing systemย architectures that support ground and orbital systems contributing toย government and commercial space systemsย 

    Compensation and Benefits:ย 

    • Base salary range for this role isย $200,000 - $250,000ย + equity in the companyย 
    • Salary will be based on several factors including, but not limitedย to:ย knowledge and skills, education, and experience levelย
