Job description

Overview

This role is a mandate to reinvent, not maintain. The Group Manager of Federal and State Corporate Income Tax Compliance will own the accuracy and timeliness of Intuit's federal and state income tax filings — and will simultaneously lead the transformation of how that compliance gets done, replacing manual, labor-intensive processes with automation, AI, and Intuit's own tax technology. The successful candidate brings deep technical command of U.S. federal and state corporate income tax law, a demonstrated record of driving process transformation, and the people-leadership range to operate at the pace and complexity of a large, multinational technology enterprise.

Intuit is a $20B+ global technology company built on the promise that financial expertise, powered by AI, can be made radically more accessible. Its portfolio of trusted brands — TurboTax, QuickBooks, Credit Karma, and Mailchimp — serves consumers, small businesses, self-employed individuals, and accounting professionals in over 100 countries, helping customers manage their finances, get their taxes done right, and grow their businesses. Intuit's AI-driven expert platform strategy sits at the heart of its next phase of growth, embedding intelligence directly into the products millions of customers rely on every day. Corporate Tax partners with Finance, Legal, and the business to deliver accurate financial reporting, rigorous regulatory compliance, and strategic tax planning on a global scale.

Responsibilities

US Federal and State Income Tax Compliance

Own Intuit's federal and state income tax return filings and government audits end to end — and redefine how the function operates, including:

  •  Maximize automation of federal and state tax compliance — deploying every available tool, including generative AI (e.g., Claude Cowork), Alteryx, Python, robotic process automation (UiPath, Power Automate), and Power BI/Power Query, to transform data automation and analytics
  • Champion Intuit's own tax product offerings — including Intuit ProConnect Tax and Intuit's Fixed Asset Manager — inside Intuit's own compliance function, serving as the internal proof point for the same products Intuit delivers to professional tax preparers and accounting firms, and feeding real-world usage insights back to product and engineering teams
  • Drive continuous improvement in the control design and operating effectiveness of Intuit's federal and state compliance processes

Tax Technology & Process

  • Champion adoption of Intuit's own tax and accounting product suite — including Intuit ProConnect Tax and Intuit's Fixed Asset Manager
  • Own and modernize the tax return technology stacks driving continuous improvement and efficiency gains through automation
  • Lead process transformation to maximize the automation and accuracy of tax/book difference analysis

SOX & Internal Controls

  • Serve as control owner for federal and state income tax compliance SOX controls
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and supporting workpapers

People Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and lead a team of tax compliance professionals — Managers, Seniors, and Analysts
  • Set team objectives, conduct performance reviews, and develop technical training on emerging tax legislation
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement through automation

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • CPA required
  • 10+ years of progressive tax experience, including significant time in a public company or Big 4 national tax office
  • Strong command of US international tax concepts (GILTI, FDII, Subpart F)
  • Experience communicating with senior Finance leadership and negotiating with government auditors
  • People management experience with a demonstrated ability to build and develop high-performing teams
  • Technical mastery — commands federal and state income tax law with precision and depth
  • Operational rigor — owns a control-intensive, deadline-driven close process at scale
  • Change leadership — drives process and technology transformation in a fast-evolving business
  • Cross-functional influence — partners effectively across non-tax functions: Controllership, FP&A, and Legal
  • Executive presence — distills complex tax legislative matters into clear narratives for non-tax executives

Preferred:

  • Masters in Taxation
  • Experience in a high-growth technology or SaaS multinational environment
  • M&A integration experience of acquired entities into the provision process
  • Exposure to transfer pricing concepts and their interplay with tax accounting
  • Familiarity with Intuit's own tax compliance product offerings (e.g., Intuit ProConnect Tax, Fixed Asset Manager) or comparable professional tax software
