About the Role:

The NDE Level I technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and integrity of materials and components through non-destructive examination techniques. This position involves performing basic inspections under the guidance of higher-level NDE personnel to detect surface and subsurface discontinuities in various materials. The technician will contribute to quality assurance processes by accurately following established procedures and documenting inspection results. Working closely with engineering and quality teams, the NDE Level I technician helps prevent failures and maintain compliance with industry standards. Ultimately, this role supports the overall operational excellence and safety objectives of the organization by providing reliable inspection data.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certification as an NDE Level I technician in at least one method (e.g., ASNT SNT-TC-1A or equivalent).
  • Basic understanding of non-destructive testing principles and techniques.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and inspection procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, or construction environments.
  • Additional certifications in multiple NDE methods (e.g., radiographic testing, eddy current testing).
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as ASTM, ASME, or API.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and report generation.
  • Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and report findings.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform non-destructive examinations using approved methods such as visual inspection, magnetic particle testing, dye penetrant testing, and ultrasonic testing under supervision.
  • Prepare and maintain inspection equipment and ensure it is calibrated and functioning properly before use.
  • Accurately record and report inspection results, including identifying and documenting any indications or defects found during examinations.
  • Follow established NDE procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards to ensure consistent and reliable inspection outcomes.
  • Collaborate with senior NDE technicians and engineers to understand inspection requirements and improve inspection techniques.

Skills:

The required skills enable the technician to perform precise and reliable inspections by applying fundamental NDE methods and adhering to strict procedural guidelines. Attention to detail is essential for identifying subtle defects and ensuring accurate documentation, which supports quality control and safety compliance. Preferred skills such as multi-method certification and familiarity with industry standards enhance the technician's versatility and ability to handle diverse inspection tasks. Effective communication skills facilitate clear reporting and collaboration with engineers and quality personnel, improving overall inspection effectiveness. Additionally, basic computer proficiency aids in maintaining inspection records and generating reports, streamlining workflow and data management.
