Job Title: Surface Supervisor - (Maintenance Supervisor)

Location: Detroit, MI
Salary: $120 -130,000 + Bonus
Relocation: Possible, based on experience and fit

Job Description

Maintenance Supervisor – Surface is responsible for leading the mechanical maintenance team supporting surface operations. This role oversees equipment reliability, preventive maintenance programs, repair prioritization, safety compliance, and workforce leadership. The supervisor ensures maintenance activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with MSHA and company safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and leadmechanical maintenance activitiesfor surface operations.
  • Managepreventive maintenance (PM) programs and equipment repair priorities.
  • Direct field and shop repairs on critical production equipment.
  • Supportmajor repair projects and technical improvements.
  • Managespare parts inventory and requisitions.
  • Ensure strict adherence toMSHA, EHS, and company safety policies.
  • Conduct regularsafety meetings and training with maintenance personnel.
  • Coach, mentor, and supervisemaintenance technicians and mechanics.
  • Evaluate team performance and support corrective actions when required.
  • Maintain strong communication and ensure compliance with facility procedures.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience working with mining or heavy industrial equipmentsuch as conveyors, crushers, screens, or material handling systems.
  • 2+ years supervisory or lead maintenance experiencein an industrial environment.
  • Experience troubleshootingmechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Ability to readblueprints, drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Experience working withinMSHA or similar safety-regulated environmentspreferred.
  • Strong leadership, safety mindset, and hands-on problem-solving ability.
