General Summary
The Adjunct Instructor of Mathematics teaches developmental and college-level mathematics courses as assigned. Primary teaching responsibilities may include the corequisite developmental mathematics pathways: MATH 0385 - Contemporary Mathematics Pathway and MATH 0387 - College Algebra Mathematics Pathway. These courses integrate instruction in Pre-Algebra, Introductory Algebra, and Intermediate Algebra to support student success in college-level mathematics. The College Algebra Mathematics Pathway (MATH 0387) is paired with either MATH 1314 - College Algebra or MATH 1324 - Business Mathematics and Social Sciences I. The Contemporary Mathematics Pathway (MATH 0385) is paired with MATH 1332 - Contemporary Mathematics. Depending on departmental needs and the successful candidate's qualifications, additional teaching assignments may include College Algebra, Business Mathematics and Social Sciences I, Contemporary Mathematics, Elementary Statistics, Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus III, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations.

Specific Position Duties
  • Teach assigned courses in the curriculum.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field.
  • Utilize appropriately challenging coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners.
  • Provide students with written expectations, including syllabi, course policies, assignment instructions, grading criteria, and other course-related information.
  • Administer assessments appropriate to the course content, including a comprehensive final exam that measures students' overall mastery of course objectives.
  • Foster a learning environment that affirms the worth and dignity of all individuals and supports every student's right to learn.
  • Prepare adequately for class and devote appropriate time to classroom instruction and related activities.
  • Deliver course material in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Address student concerns, including comments, questions, and feedback, through class discussions, posted student support hours, timely electronic communication, and other appropriate means.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate course materials.
  • Communicate with students in a timely and professional manner.
  • Submit grades in a timely manner.
  • Attend all scheduled departmental meetings.
  • Assist with student recruitment, advising, and retention activities.
  • Participate in campus-wide Professional Learning Center (PLC) sessions.
  • Hold student support hours on campus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Mathematics or Any Master's degree or higher with a minimum of eighteen (18) completed graduate hours in the teaching discipline or related field.
