    Job description

    The Supervisor of Product Development & Testing is responsible for assisting in the development of new and existing products and product lines at Harbor Freight Tools. Key functions include coordinating the daily activities of the quality assurance department, providing effective leadership and direction to various QA employees, driving resolutions, ensuring continuous improvement of department processes and systems that align with company objectives, and executing departmental tasks to establish a global quality organization that will support future growth.
    This role requires expertise and specialized knowledge of tools, and a passion for using tools and equipment. The Testing Supervisor may work individually or with a group, relying on advanced knowledge and expertise in verifying conformance to industry and regulatory safety standards, testing new products, building test fixtures, creating reports, and coordinating line reviews. A Testing Supervisor exercises discretion and independent judgment in evaluating testing methods, weighing test results, and making recommendations related to products.
    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Maintain project management program, manage team workload and schedule.  
    • Lead and develop a high performance and results driven team with an emphasis on continuous improvement.             
    • Work as a coach / mentor to develop up-and-coming quality staff by using a hands-on approach to developing and training employees.      
    • Work collaboratively with both internal corporate partners to constantly improve quality and reliability objectives.         
    • Interact with all levels of management, company consultants, regulatory agents, clients, external testing labs, and lab equipment and supply vendors.            
    • Ensure timeliness, clarity, and accuracy of all technical documentation and correspondence.        
    • Lead and train product specialists using specialized lab equipment such as: XRF material analyzer, dynamometer, life test fixtures, etc.       
    • Delegate tasks to Product Specialists while providing target completion dates to testing managers and meeting deadlines.     
    • Assists in writing, reviewing, and providing feedback on test reports.      
    • Provide technical expertise based on advanced knowledge and experience and interact with various entities (Merchandising, Global Sourcing, Packaging, etc.) within the organization.              
    • Extensive tool knowledge across all categories; Expert in specific tool category.          
    • Mastery of all Lab Equipment.        
    • Actively participate in product demonstrations and provide independent judgment to assist in decision making process regarding specific products.           
    • Effectively present information and responds to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers.  
    • Fieldwork Assignments as needed for product testing.      
    • Defines problems collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.   
    • Oversee lab maintenance and organization.           
    • Ordering of materials and equipment.       
    • Other duties as assigned by manager.

    The anticipated salary range for this position is $78,100 - $117,100 depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition, we offer comprehensive and competitive benefits to Associates (and their families) such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability. Eligible Associates are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Associates will accrue paid time off up to 236 hours per year (inclusive of PTO, floating holidays, and paid holidays). Paid sick time up to 80 hours per year unless otherwise required by law.
