What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Program Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Program Manager, you need expertise in project planning, resource allocation, risk management, and a solid understanding of program life cycles, often supported by a bachelor's degree and experience in project or program management. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Project, Jira, and certifications such as PMP or PgMP is typically required. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills help in coordinating cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder expectations. These skills ensure that complex programs are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational goals.

How does a Program Manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals?

Program Managers work closely with cross-functional teams such as engineering, marketing, finance, and operations to align project objectives with organizational strategy. They facilitate communication, coordinate resources, and manage dependencies across teams to ensure milestones are met on schedule. Regular meetings, status updates, and transparent documentation are key practices, helping to address challenges proactively and keep everyone on track. This collaborative approach not only drives program success but also builds strong professional relationships across the organization.

What is program management?

Program management is the coordinated oversight and management of multiple related projects that align with an organization's strategic objectives. Program managers ensure that projects within a program are executed efficiently, risks are managed, and benefits are realized. They focus on aligning project outcomes with business goals, optimizing resources, and communicating progress to stakeholders. Unlike project managers, who handle individual projects, program managers oversee a collection of projects to deliver greater value.

What is the difference between Program Management vs Project Management?

AspectProgram ManagementProject Management
FocusOversees multiple related projects to achieve strategic objectivesManages individual projects to meet specific goals
ScopeBroader, involving multiple projects and stakeholdersNarrower, focused on specific deliverables
ResponsibilitiesAligns projects with organizational strategy, manages interdependenciesPlans, executes, and closes individual projects
CertificationsPMP, PgMP often preferredPMP commonly required

While both roles require strong organizational and leadership skills, program management focuses on coordinating multiple projects to achieve strategic goals, whereas project management concentrates on delivering specific project outcomes efficiently.

    Hadrian – Manufacturing the Future

Hadrian is building autonomous factories that help aerospace and defense companies manufacture rockets, satellites, jets, and ships up to 10x faster and up to 2x cheaper. By combining advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing, we are reinventing how America produces its most critical parts.

We recently raised $260 million dollar Series C to accelerate this mission. We are excited to be launching a new Factory in Mesa, Arizona, a 270,000 square foot facility that will create 350 new jobs immediately. We are opening a new headquarters to support thousands of future hires, launching Hadrian Maritime to serve naval production, and introducing a Factory-as-a-Service model that delivers complete systems instead of individual parts.

Hadrian works with startups, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, and major defense contractors across space, shipbuilding, and aviation to scale production, reduce costs, and accelerate delivery on mission-critical programs. We are backed by leading investors including Lux Capital, Founders Fund, and Andreessen Horowitz. Our fast-growing team is united by a shared mission to reindustrialize American manufacturing for the 21st century and beyond!

    The Role

Maintenance Specialists are Hadrian's rapid deployment force for installs, commissioning, and uptime across machines, robots, and site infrastructure across our factories. The Maintenance Specialist takes full ownership of all maintenance activities within a specific section of our state-of-the-art factory. You’ll be integral to maintaining equipment efficiency and ensuring seamless production continuity. The role spans full-stack facilities systems -- electrical distribution, compressed air, vacuum, process cooling, HVAC, general utilities, and more -- demanding both broad technical range and thoughtful judgment.

    What You'll Do

    • Perform timely and effective maintenance on CNC machinery and robotic systems according to manufacturer guidelines, swiftly returning equipment to full operational status.

    • Liaise directly with manufacturers or external vendors to resolve issues rapidly and efficiently.

    • Diagnose and conduct root cause analysis for equipment breakdowns, distinguishing between mechanical, software, or other issues, and developing solutions to proactively mitigate future risks.

    • Prioritize and manage maintenance tickets proactively to minimize equipment downtime.

    • Standardize maintenance processes, equipping the technician team with clear, repeatable procedures and minimizing dependency on specialized knowledge.

    • Perform and maintain records of routine maintenance and preventative maintenance on assets.

    • Maintain documentation of repairs and maintenance performed.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Experience performing mechanical and electrical maintenance on CNC machines and robotics equipment.

    • Ability to learn quickly, leveraging self-discovery and external training resources as needed.

    • Strong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems within advanced manufacturing contexts.

    • Clear communicator who can coordinate vendors and collaborate with engineers, operations; able to work off-shift or on-call during critical installs.

    What Will Set You Apart

    • Demonstrated experience installing and commissioning CNC machines, industrial robots, and associated automation in a live production environment.

    • Broad facilities skill set across electrical (high- and low-voltage), mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and HVAC systems; able to read schematics.

    • Hands-on troubleshooting of drives, servos, PLC-adjacent I/O, sensors, VFDs, coolant and chip systems.

    • Maintenance system literacy for work orders, parts, and preventive plans; disciplined documentation habits

    **Compensation **

For this role, the target salary range is $30-40/HR (actual range may vary based on experience).

This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

    Benefits

    • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees

    • 401k
