    Job Summary

    Graphcore is seeking a Senior Architectural Designer to join our Data Center Engineering organization and lead architectural coordination for lab, data center, and office space projects. This role will serve as an owner's representative and partner with technical leaders, consultants, contractors, and vendors to deliver high-performance workplace and infrastructure solutions. Approximately 10-20% travel may be required.

    The Team

    The Data Center Engineering team is responsible for delivering scalable, high-performance facilities and workplace environments that support Graphcore's global operations and AI infrastructure. The team collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure projects meet operational, technical, and business requirements.

    Responsibilities and Duties
    • Lead architectural coordination for lab, data center, and office projects from programming through construction and turnover.
    • Develop owner requirements, architectural standards, and high-level specifications aligned with Graphcore's operational and workplace goals.
    • Review drawings and specifications for quality, constructability, maintainability, and compliance with project requirements.
    • Serve as the owner's representative for architectural scope, coordinating internal stakeholders, consultants, and contractors.
    • Answer RFIs, review submittals and shop drawings, and evaluate substitutions for architectural systems, finishes, and products.
    • Identify appropriate products, materials, and approved vendors based on performance, availability, cost, and durability.
    • Conduct site walks, mock-up reviews, and punch list activities, and support issue resolution during construction and closeout.
    Candidate Profile

    Essential:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
    • Solid understanding of building envelope, partitions, doors/hardware, finishes, code, accessibility, and life-safety considerations.
    • Experience with construction administration, including contractor coordination, RFIs, submittals, changes, and field issue resolution.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
    • Proficiency with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, and document review processes.

    Desirable:

    • Experience with critical, laboratory, or server room environments.  
    • Licensed architect, NCARB certificate holder, or actively pursuing licensure (this position will not be stamping drawings).
    • Familiarity with office, lab, or data center design standards and approved product/vendor lists.
    • Experience coordinating with MEP, fire protection, and IT teams in complex facilities.
