Job description

Position Summary This is a Seasonal Position lasting up to 5 months Resume and Cover Letter Required Perform general laborer tasks for Grant County Public Works Road Districts at various locations throughout Grant County and Solid Waste Ephrata Landfill. This position is primarily assigned to Solid Waste. This job class is represented by the Grant County Public Employees' Association.

All employees hired into this position are required to become and remain members in good standing of the Union within 30 days of beginning employment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following examples of duties and accountabilities illustrate the general range of tasks assigned to the position but are not intended to define the limits of required duties. Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position.

Employee must comply with all County and department policies, procedures, WAC's, or other regulatory bodies. To assist with the overall operations of the Grant County Public Works Department. This Position aides the Public Works Road Districts and Solid Waste Department with assignments such as general laborer, waste pick-up, and flagging/traffic control.

Education, Experience, and Licensing To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Any combination of education and experience may be substituted as long as it provides the desired skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Required High School Diploma or GED. 18 years of age or older.

Valid Washington State Driver's License with proof of automobile insurance. Strong ethical integrity in working with the public and in government operations. Some positions may require basic math skills.

Physical Abilities and Working Conditions Working Conditions Work is performed at a landfill in a variety of weather and in conditions in which disagreeable odors are present. The work involves direct exposure to heavy equipment where special care in observing safe operating practices is required.

Physical Requirements The physical abilities described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, write, hear, speak, and lift up to 50 lbs. of unequal weight.
