Intro/Program Description: Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) is a well-established Manhattan community-based organization that supports services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. We are one of New York City’s leading human services organizations meeting the needs of children, youth and families, homeless individuals, and older adults throughout Manhattan and New York City. Goddard Riverside promotes dignity and self-reliance across generations. We work every day for a fair and just society where all people have the opportunity to make choices that lead to better lives for themselves and their families.

Program Description: Beacon Community Centers are in public schools throughout New York City and serve youth from kindergarten through age 21 and adults ages 22 and older, including Older Adults. Beacons operate year-round on non-school hours, weekdays, evenings, weekends and in the summer as a resource to the entire community by offering integrated programming tailored to local needs. During the summer, Beacons collaborate with the New York City Public Schools for the Summer Rising initiative.

Position Summary: Program Aides work with Office Manager, Coordinators and Director to ensure the office is managed smoothly. Includes data entry, record-keeping, correspondence, escorting, monitoring and supporting Youth Groups.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, September 1, 2026, through June 18, 2027, Between 2:30pm to 6:00pm or some evenings 6pm-9pm, up to 20 hours per week

Hourly Rate: $19.00/hr

Role, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties

  • Office Tasks (Manage attendance records, Data Entry, Typing, Copying, Manage Program/Office Supplies)
  • Maintenance Tasks (Light, Sweeping, mopping, dusting, general cleaning)
  • Support all areas of the After School Program
  • Escort participants to activities off site.
  • Enforce program rules
  • Know and enforce ALL emergency procedures and follow all safety guidelines associated with all program areas
  • Foster a learning environment that stimulates children’s creative growth and development
  • Attend staff training, weekly meetings and supervision meetings
  • Other duties as required and assigned by Program Director and AVP.
  • Demonstrate professionalism & leadership

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Must be able to work between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday-Friday for training sessions
  • Must have ability to work collaboratively
  • Must have a sense of humor and a passion for youth development
  • Have energy, motivation and skills needed to work independently
  • Comfortable engaging youth
  • Experience or interest in Education/Social Work a plus
  • Must be able to pass background check including Fingerprint Screening.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification a plus

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Familiarity with Social Services setting
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent bending, kneeling
  • Computer use
