Position Summary

GeoSurfaces is seeking a dependable and hardworking Field Builder to support the construction of high-quality sports facilities.

This hands-on position assists with site preparation, underground utility and stone-base installation, grading, equipment operation, and general construction activities. The Field Builder works closely with site supervisors, foremen, and other field personnel to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company quality standards.

The successful candidate will possess a strong work ethic, a willingness to travel, and a desire to learn and grow within the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assist with general construction activities, including underground utility installation, stone-base installation, grading support, and manual labor.
• Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Operate automated GPS- and laser-guided heavy equipment.
• Support grade checking and assist with basic project layout as directed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
• Follow all safety policies, protocols, and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Work collaboratively with site supervisors, foremen, and other field personnel to support project success.
• Travel regularly to multiple project sites as required.
• Support continuous-improvement efforts focused on safe and efficient construction practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous construction or related field experience required.
• Heavy-equipment operating experience strongly preferred.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic and a desire to learn and grow within the construction industry.

Technical Skills and Core Competencies

• General construction and manual-labor experience.
• Underground utility and stone-base installation.
• Grading support and basic grade checking.
• Hand-tool and power-tool operation.
• GPS- and laser-guided heavy-equipment operation.
• Basic construction layout, mathematics, and measurement.
• Strong safety awareness and adherence to established procedures.

• Ability to adapt to changing project and jobsite needs.

Additional Requirements

• Must be willing and able to travel regularly for project assignments.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend and perform manual labor for extended periods.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily at active outdoor construction sites throughout the Midwest region. The role requires regular travel, physical labor, interaction with construction equipment, and work in varying weather and jobsite conditions.
