Technical Project Manager (TS/SCI with Poly Required)

At GCI, we solve the hard problems. As a Technical Project Manager, a typical day will include the following duties:

This position is responsible for delivery of customer-focused infrastructure and IT projects. The primary function is to manage, support, and advise the customer. The individual will work closely with other project managers and various systems engineering, infrastructure, and technical operations teams to assess requirements, coordinate resources, and deliver projects for the customer. As a member of a project team, serves as the primary interface between the project team and other groups, to include support needed by other team members. An essential skill for success is the ability to tailor the project management lifecycle and essential IT operations processes to function effectively to meet the customer's requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience performing industry-standard Project Management Life Cycle tasks, as well as experience in tailoring standard process life cycles to function effectively in a small, fast-paced environment. They must have strong written and verbal individual and organizational communication skills and the ability to articulate technical project requirements to both customers and internal teams. Experience supporting and managing high-volume data collection and processing operations is preferable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related business or technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience
  • Minimum eight (8) years of relevant experience (additional experience may be substituted for a degree)

Required Knowledge/Skills

  • Develop and manage project schedules, including timelines, milestones, and deadlines
  • Manage project resources, including team members, vendors, and contractors, with an emphasis on capacity planning for team members
  • Ensure that project deliverables meet the required quality standards, including testing, validation, and verification
  • Demonstrated experience in project management fundamentals using approved tools and techniques for IT and software activities, including scheduling, execution, and monitoring/controlling.
  • Proven ability to manage priorities across multiple projects, analyze and prioritize tasks effectively, and work on several tasks concurrently.
  • Provide regular project status reports to stakeholders, including progress, issues, and risks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IPD, Data, MAD, and MCD
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand their needs, provide updates, and address concerns
  • Ability to successfully work both independently and in a team environment, fostering teamwork.
  • Strong polished communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with client counterparts.
  • Ability to respond to short deadlines with timely and accurate information.
  • Document and share lessons learned from the project to improve future project delivery
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to optimize project delivery
  • Demonstrated research and analytical abilities, with the capability to problem-solve effectively.
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of records systems and the ability to search for additional information.
  • Experience in coaching, counseling, and advising based on relevant customer organization experience.

Desired Knowledge/Skills

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Agile Certification (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster)
  • Experience with Jira Software for planning and tracking projects

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation
  • Coordinate and manage the execution of project tasks, including development, testing, and deployment of IT systems and applications
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, including technical, schedule, and budget risks
  • Communicate with stakeholders, including business teams, technical teams, and vendors, to ensure that their needs are met and that they are informed about project progress
  • Provides ongoing support and enhancements to existing capabilities
  • Result-oriented by troubleshooting complex problems
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Reviews, tracks, and responds to high-level customer action
  • Ensure that projects are formally closed, including documenting final deliverables and obtaining formal acceptance from stakeholders

A candidate must be a US Citizen and requires an active/current TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
