About the role

You’ll build the collaborative web application that millions of users rely on to create presentations, documents, and websites with AI. This means shipping features that make real-time collaboration feel effortless, integrating cutting‑edge AI capabilities into intuitive interfaces, and ensuring the editor performs flawlessly whether someone’s creating their first gamma or their thousandth.

You’ll work on the core foundation of a complex real‑time collaborative web app: our AI presentation editor. You’ll be working with CRDTs and WebSockets, shaping how users interact with AI‑powered content creation. You’ll collaborate closely with backend engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver polished experiences that feel fast, intuitive, and magical.

Our team has a strong in‑office culture and works in person 4–5 days per week in San Francisco. We love working together to stay creative and connected, with flexibility to work from home when focus matters most.

What you’ll do

Build the core foundation of a real‑time collaborative web app using CRDTs and WebSockets.

Ship features across the full stack that integrate AI capabilities into intuitive user experiences.

Optimize frontend performance to ensure the editor feels fast and responsive for millions of users.

Collaborate with designers to implement polished UI interactions and visual experiences.

Read and suggest improvements to open‑source projects that are core to the Gamma web application.

Work with backend engineers to design APIs that power seamless collaboration and content generation.

What you’ll bring

Experience with real‑time collaborative systems, WebSockets, or similar technologies (Nice to have).

Understanding of CRDTs or operational transformation for collaborative editing (Nice to have).

Prior experience building rich text editors or content editors (Nice to have).

Strong sense of craft and attention to detail in UI implementation.

Curiosity and attitude that matches your technical knowledge.

Compensation range

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to experience and expertise in the requirements listed above.
