Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Ferguson Construction is a leading general contracting and construction management firm with over 100 years of industry expertise. We handle a diverse range of projects, including industrial, commercial, healthcare, and institutional buildings. Our reputation for excellence is built on our comprehensive services, including in-house design and self-performing key trades such as concrete, masonry, steel erection, carpentry, and sheet metal.

The Assistant Superintendent will oversee daily construction operations on-site, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and a commitment to safety.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist day-to-day contact with Owner(s) to ensure satisfaction.
  • Assist in the management of all aspects of construction sites, ensuring adherence to project specifications and timelines.
  • Provide oversight of subcontractors and employees to ensure tasks are completed effectively and efficiently.
  • Monitor safety practices on-site, promoting a culture of safety compliance and awareness.
  • Assist in scheduling project tasks and coordinating with various teams to optimize workflow.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure work meets company standards and client expectations.
  • Facilitate communication between team members, subcontractors, and management to resolve any issues that arise.
  • Document daily site activities and report progress to the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute for education.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management or related roles, with a focus on field operations.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, safety protocols, and building codes.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
