Job description

Paraprofessional - ExcelPrep, San Antonio, TX

Mission-driven support role assisting learning and therapy for neurodiverse children. On-site in San Antonio, Texas.

About ExcelPrep

ExcelPrep is a mission-driven private program serving neurodiverse children through structured, research-based instruction. Our mission is simple: prioritize the academic and social success of neurodiverse learners. We deliver high-quality academic and therapeutic programming that supports meaningful learning outcomes.

ExcelPrep offers two distinct programs for learners ages 3-13:

  • PreK–8 Academic Program: Direct Instruction and Precision Teaching for core academics (reading, writing, math) in a structured, data-driven environment.

  • Clinical ABA Program (Ages 3–13): Cognition-linguistically based ABA focusing on language, reasoning, executive functioning, social competence, and independence.

Across ExcelPrep, we center:

  • Direct Instruction and instructional design

  • Precision Teaching and data-based decision making

  • Behavior science research foundations

  • Occupational Therapy as a prioritized therapy alongside ABA for sensory-motor development

Our mission is to provide a nurturing, academically focused learning environment where neurodiverse students develop strong academic foundations, cognitive-linguistic skills, and the confidence to succeed in school and beyond.

The Role: Paraprofessional

We’re seeking a compassionate, dependable Paraprofessional to support teachers, therapists, and students across ExcelPrep’s programs. You’ll work under supervision to reinforce instruction, assist with transitions, and support individualized learning and behavior plans to promote successful outcomes.

Key focus areas:

  • Support classroom instruction under teacher and BCBA/OT/SLP guidance

  • Assist with implementing Direct Instruction, Precision Teaching, and ABA-based strategies

  • Support students with accommodations, sensory needs, and motor planning as directed

  • Collect and organize data on participation, on-task behavior, and skill acquisition; document progress as required

  • Assist with daily routines, transitions, supervision during activities, and safety protocols

  • Support with behavior support plans, data collection, and home-school communication as needed

  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to create a positive learning environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-the-ground assistance in classrooms and therapy spaces

  • Help implement lesson activities, reinforce correct responses, and manage materials

  • Support data collection and basic progress tracking

  • Aid in behavior support and communication strategies under supervision

  • Assist with lunch, recess, arrival/dismissal, and other daily routines

  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of learning spaces

  • Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions

  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and regulations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in education, psychology, or related field is a plus

  • Prior experience supporting children, preferably in educational or pediatric settings

  • Familiarity with classroom routines, data collection, and behavior support concepts a plus

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families

  • Patience, adaptability, and a proactive, safety-conscious approach

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or experience serving Spanish-speaking families is a plus

  • Commitment to ExcelPrep’s mission and to supporting meaningful learning outcomes

Schedule, Location, and Benefits

  • Location: San Antonio, TX

  • Schedule: Full-time; typical school-day hours with potential for occasional after-hours planning

  • On-site role with opportunities for cross-campus collaboration as applicable

  • Benefits: Competitive compensation; comprehensive benefits package; professional development opportunities; supportive, mission-driven culture

Note: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

How to Apply

  • Apply directly on this posting via Indeed, ZipRecruiter, or LinkedIn

  • Submit your resume and a cover letter detailing:
    • Your experience supporting students in educational or pediatric settings
    • How you collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families
    • Why you are drawn to ExcelPrep’s mission
    • Any relevant experience with Direct Instruction, ABA, or sensory supports
    • Two professional references

  • Include any relevant certifications or training (e.g., behavior support, sensory strategies)
