Nous recherchons un Ingenieur principal - Systemes de gestion de batterie (BMS) pour rejoindre une equipe dynamique chargee de diriger les activites de conception de l'avion regional EVIO 810. Ce role offre une excellente opportunite de contribuer a ce nouveau produit passionnant en apportant votre experience en conception pour soutenir les differentes phases de developpement jusqu'a la certification et la mise en service, tout en participant a cette aventure stimulante et exigeante.


Resume du role

Relevant du responsable des systemes de stockage d'energie, l'Ingenieur principal - BMS jouera un role pratique et critique dans le developpement de l'aeronef hybride-electrique de nouvelle generation d'EVIO.

Operant a l'intersection de l'architecture systeme, des algorithmes de controle et de l'integration de batteries haute tension (~800V), ce poste s'adresse a un ingenieur experimente qui s'epanouit dans un environnement rapide, de type startup - faisant evoluer les systemes du concept au prototype jusqu'a des conceptions certifiables et pretes pour la production.

Nous recherchons une expertise approfondie en architecture BMS et en conception de systemes electriques, incluant la detection, le controle et les strategies de protection, ainsi que de solides competences en algorithmes d'estimation avances (SOC, SOH, SOP), modelisation, simulation et validation.

Le role a une influence importante sur l'architecture systeme, la securite (FMEA/FHA), l'integration logiciel/materiel et la coordination avec les fournisseurs, avec une responsabilite directe dans la definition et l'execution des strategies BMS afin d'assurer performance, securite et conformite. Une experience des cadres de certification aeronautique (Partie 25 - FAA/TCCA) et des processus de developpement (DAL, DO-178C/DO-254) est un atout important, mais non obligatoire.


Responsabilites cles

  • Diriger la conception des architectures BMS et des systemes electriques haute tension (~800V), incluant la detection, le controle, les protections (contacteurs, pyrofusible, HVIL), l'isolation et les communications.
  • Piloter les compromis systeme entre batterie, electronique de puissance et integration avion afin d'optimiser performance, securite, masse et fiabilite en environnements exigeants.
  • Developper et valider les principaux algorithmes (SOC, SOH, SOP) a l'aide de modelisation, simulation (MATLAB/Simulink, Python) et prototypage rapide.
  • Travailler dans un environnement pratique et agile, de la phase de concept aux premiers prototypes jusqu'a la conception destinee a la production, incluant l'engagement et la validation des fournisseurs.
  • Diriger les revues de conception et assurer la rigueur technique, la tracabilite des exigences et l'alignement avec les objectifs de securite et de certification (FMEA/FHA, DAL ; aeronautique un atout).
  • Collaborer etroitement avec les equipes propulsion, thermique, avionique et systemes pour livrer un systeme electrique et energetique entierement integre.
  • Communiquer clairement avec la direction via des mises a jour techniques concises incluant risques, compromis et plans de mitigation.


Leadership et impact d'equipe

  • Agir comme leader technique senior dans une equipe dynamique, en favorisant la responsabilite, la rapidite et la rigueur d'ingenierie.
  • Encadrer les ingenieurs et elever le niveau en architecture systeme, modelisation et developpement d'algorithmes.


Collaboration et parties prenantes

  • Representer le BMS et l'architecture electrique lors des revues de programme et des echanges avec les fournisseurs.
  • Diriger les processus RFI, RFP et RFQ et assurer l'alignement avec les fournisseurs cles (cellules, BMS, electronique de puissance) du besoin jusqu'a la validation.


Processus, normes et certification

  • Soutenir les activites de certification Partie 25, incluant les analyses de securite (FMEA/FHA) et le developpement (DAL).
  • S'assurer que les conceptions sont testables, robustes et certifiables, avec une tracabilite claire des exigences.


Qualifications

  • 10 a 15+ ans d'experience en systemes de batteries ou chaines de traction electrifiees (xEV, aeronautique, vehicules lourds ou equivalent), avec experience pratique des BMS et batteries haute tension (~800V). L'experience aeronautique est un atout important, non obligatoire.
  • Solide comprehension des architectures BMS (materiel/logiciel), incluant detection, controle, protection et reseaux de communication.
  • Experience des systemes haute tension (isolation, contacteurs, pyrofusible, HVIL) et des environnements exigeants.
  • Experience en developpement et validation d'algorithmes batterie (SOC, SOH, SOP) avec outils de modelisation/simulation (MATLAB/Simulink, Python).
  • Experience demontree dans la livraison de systemes du concept au prototype jusqu'a la production, incluant la collaboration avec fournisseurs.
  • Connaissance des cadres de developpement des systemes critiques (FMEA/FHA, ISO 26262 ou DO-178C/DO-254) est un atout.
  • Excellentes competences en resolution de problemes, communication claire et capacite a evoluer dans un environnement rapide et pratique.


Communication

  • Excellentes competences en communication ecrite et orale, avec capacite a influencer a tous les niveaux et a expliquer des concepts complexes a des publics techniques et non techniques.


Formation

  • Diplome en genie electrique ou domaine connexe pertinent.

We are seeking a Principal Engineer - Battery Management Systems to be part of a dynamic team responsible for leading the activities in the design of EVIO's 810 regional aircraft. This role offers an excellent opportunity to be part of this exciting new product by bringing his design experience in supporting the different design phase up to certification and sustainment and contribute to our efforts in this exciting and challenging endeavor.


Role Summary

Reporting to the Head of Energy Storage Systems, the Principal Engineer - Battery Management Systems (BMS) will play a critical, hands-on role in developing EVIO's next-generation hybrid-electric aircraft.

Operating at the intersection of system architecture, control algorithms, and high-voltage (~800V) battery integration, this role is suited for an experienced engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, startup-like environment - taking systems from concept through prototyping to certifiable, production-ready designs. We are seeking deep expertise in BMS architecture and electrical system design, including sensing, controls, and protection strategies, along with strong capabilities in advanced estimation algorithms (SOC, SOH, SOP), modeling, simulation, and validation.

The role has broad influence across system-level architecture, safety (FMEA/FHA), software/hardware integration, and supplier alignment, with direct ownership of defining and executing BMS strategies to ensure performance, safety, and compliance. Experience with aerospace certification frameworks (Part 25 - FAA/TCCA) and development assurance processes (DAL, DO-178C/DO-254) is a strong asset but not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of BMS and high-voltage electrical architectures (~800V class), including sensing, controls, protection (contactors, pyrofuse, HVIL), isolation strategies, and communications.
  • Drive system trade-offs across battery, power electronics, and aircraft integration to optimize performance, safety, weight, and reliability in harsh operating environments.
  • Develop and validate key algorithms (SOC, SOH, SOP) using modeling, simulation (MATLAB/Simulink, Python), and rapid prototyping.
  • Operate in a hands-on, startup-like environment - taking systems from concept through early prototypes to production intent, including supplier engagement and validation.
  • Lead design reviews and ensure technical rigor, requirements traceability, and alignment with safety and certification objectives (FMEA/FHA, DAL; aerospace a plus).
  • Collaborate closely with propulsion, thermal, avionics, and systems teams to deliver a fully integrated electrical and energy system.
  • Communicate clearly with leadership through concise technical updates, including risks, trade-offs, and mitigation plans.


Team Leadership & Impact

  • Act as a senior technical leader in a fast-moving team, fostering ownership, speed, and engineering discipline.
  • Mentor engineers and raise the bar on system architecture, modeling, and algorithm development.


Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent the BMS and electrical architecture in program reviews and supplier engagements.
  • Lead RFI, RFP and RFQ processes and drive alignment with key suppliers (cells, BMS, power electronics) from requirements through validation.


Processes, Standards & Certification

  • Support Part 25 certification activities, including safety analyses (FMEA/FHA) and development assurance (DAL).
  • Ensure designs are testable, robust, and certifiable, with clear requirements traceability.


Qualifications

  • 10-15+ years of experience in battery systems or electrified powertrains (xEV, aerospace, heavy-duty, or equivalent), with hands-on involvement in BMS and high-voltage battery packs (~800V class). Aerospace (Part 23/25) is a strong asset, not required.
  • Strong understanding of BMS architectures (hardware/software), including sensing, controls, protection, and communication networks.
  • Solid experience in high-voltage system design (isolation, contactors, pyrofuse, HVIL) and operation in harsh environments.
  • Experience developing and validating battery algorithms (SOC, SOH, SOP) with modeling/simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Python).
  • Track record of delivering systems from concept through prototyping to production intent, including supplier collaboration.
  • Familiarity with safety-critical development frameworks (FMEA/FHA, ISO 26262 or DO-178C/DO-254) is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, clear communication, and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.


Communication

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to influence across levels and communicate complex concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.


Education

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or other pertinent fields.
