Job Description:We are looking for an
Engine Calibration Engineer to support engine controls calibration and vehicle testing activities for North America and global markets. This role involves hands-on engine and vehicle testing, calibration of engine control parameters, emissions and OBD compliance, and data analysis to meet performance, fuel economy, and regulatory targets.
The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with vehicles and test hardware, analyzing real-world data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust engine calibrations.
Key Responsibilities: - Perform engine controls calibration to meet emissions, fuel economy, power, drivability, and OBD requirements.
- Execute complete engine calibration activities following defined development and validation procedures.
- Plan and manage calibration schedules and testing resources to meet program milestones.
- Prepare for testing, collect data, analyze results, and generate technical reports.
- Conduct vehicle and engine testing under extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, high altitude).
- Perform software logic verification and calibration value confirmation.
- Collaborate closely with calibration technicians and engineering teams.
- Support calibration activities for North America and global markets.
- Complete required technical and driving-related internal training.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 1+ year of experience in engine calibration or powertrain development.
- Strong understanding of internal combustion engine theory and operation.
- Experience investigating technical issues and developing effective solutions.
- Proficiency with MS Office tools.
- Excellent driving record.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with emissions, drivability, bench, or OBD calibration.
- Experience with conventional and/or hybrid powertrain systems.
- Knowledge of emission and OBD regulations for the US and other global markets.
- Experience calibrating engines for markets outside the US (Europe, China, Japan, etc.).
- Familiarity with model-based design and calibration processes.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, C, and C++.
- Experience using Python, VBA, or similar scripting languages for data analysis.
- Experience with project management tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse, global environment.
