    Job description

    Job Summary

    The Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing, managing, and promoting safety programs that minimize occupational hazards and ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations within large-scale commercial construction and data center environments. This role conducts site inspections, safety audits, incident investigations, and training programs while collaborating with project teams to maintain a safe and compliant workplace. The Safety Coordinator serves as a key resource for risk management, hazard prevention, and continuous improvement of safety performance across multiple job sites.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Identify and evaluate workplace conditions that may result in accidents, injuries, property damage, or financial loss.

    • Assess the potential severity and impact of workplace incidents and recommend preventive measures.

    • Develop and implement accident prevention and loss control programs aligned with organizational safety objectives.

    • Coordinate and support safety initiatives across construction projects to ensure consistent compliance with safety standards.

    • Compile, analyze, and interpret safety-related data, including injury trends, incident reports, inspections, and compliance metrics.

    • Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections, audits, and observations to identify and correct hazards.

    • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, near misses, and occupational illnesses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.

    • Review construction plans, procedures, and work practices to verify compliance with safety requirements.

    • Monitor and evaluate corrective actions taken to address safety violations and inspection findings.

    • Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and field-level training sessions for project personnel.

    • Administer safety training programs and maintain compliance with training requirements.

    • Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, foremen, and client safety representatives to address safety concerns and improve jobsite performance.

    • Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, coaching, and mentoring.

    • Support emergency response planning, drills, and incident response activities.

    • Maintain accurate safety records, reports, logs, and compliance documentation.

    Job Requirements

    • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a safety management, safety coordination, or construction safety role.

    • Experience working in large-scale commercial construction environments; data center construction experience preferred.

    • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, hazard recognition, and risk mitigation practices.

    • Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective action follow-up.

    • Ability to lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training programs for field personnel.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with field teams, supervisors, project managers, and client representatives.

    • Ability to enforce safety policies professionally and consistently.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for reporting, documentation, and recordkeeping.

    • Experience using safety management software, digital inspection tools, incident tracking systems, or learning management systems.

    • Familiarity with plan-reading software and construction drawings is preferred.

    • Ability to stand and walk throughout active construction sites for extended periods.

    • Ability to safely navigate active construction environments while wearing required personal protective equipment.

    • Must possess and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment, including composite toe boots.

    Education

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.

    • Additional coursework or training in occupational safety, environmental health and safety, construction management, or a related field is preferred.

    Work Experience

    • Experience in construction safety, electrical construction, low-voltage systems, telecommunications, or data center construction environments preferred.

    • Experience supporting safety compliance on active commercial construction projects.

    • Experience documenting safety findings, corrective actions, and compliance reports.

    • Schedule: Monday through Friday.

    • Typical start time: 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM based on project requirements.

    • Overtime may be required based on project schedules and operational needs.

    • Project Environment: New construction data center projects and large-scale commercial construction sites.

    • Preferred Certifications:

      • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

      • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)

      • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)

      • OSHA 500 Certification

      • OSHA 510 Certification

      • Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) credential

      • First Aid/CPR Certification

    • Daily activities may include conducting site safety walks, performing audits, facilitating toolbox talks, training employees, documenting incidents, maintaining compliance records, coordinating with project teams, and supporting emergency response procedures.
