    GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
    Assists clinical personnel in moving patients to and from beds, stretchers, and tables while utilizing safe transfer techniques. Delivers specimens, equipment, schedules, etc. to all parts of the hospital. Maintains transportation equipment in clean and safe condition. May be required to run errands outside the facility on occasion. Provide routine manual services to assure clean, orderly and sanitary conditions in the hospital. To follow all directives and regulatory guidelines in the responsible areas. To be willing to be cross trained in different areas. To be flexible in your duties to accommodate the needs of the unit. To present yourself in a professional and friendly manner to patients, visitors, and fellow staff members. To follow all guidelines explained in the policies, procedures, and employee handbook. This job is very fast-paced and physically demanding. It also requires knowledge of ergonomics and equipment for moving patients.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Keeps cribs, wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds moving throughout the hospital departments and assists in transporting patients throughout the facility for admissions, discharges and procedures.
    2. Assists in moving high-risk patients (patient handling risk assessment tool) from stretcher to bed and vice-versa, using mechanical devices whenever feasible.
    3. Is responsible for the tracking and location of patient handling equipment, identification of new equipment needs.
    4. Customer Service Excellence: Customers are defined as patients, families, visitors, co-workers, our community and business partners. Fosters positive working relationships, across departments, and campuses to represent Driscoll Children's Hospital as a unified, supportive system. Models Driscoll Children's Hospital mission, vision, and values. Engages full spectrum of communication excellence: models' integrity, personal accountability, engagement, communication bridges, active listening, open dialogue, empathy, understanding,

Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities as assigned. Practices within the Medical Center/System and departmental policies and procedures. Participates in all departmental and medical center mandatory in-services.


    OTHER IMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS:
    1. Transports specimens throughout and outside the facility as needed.
    2. Transport items/equipment throughout the facility as needed.

    EDUCATION:

    High School diploma or equivalent.

    LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, AND/OR CERTIFICATION:
    Current BLS certification recognized by AHA required prior to employment.
