Job description

Position Summary:
As a Store Protection Specialist (SPS), you play a critical role in creating a safe, secure, and welcoming shopping environment for customers and associates. Through strong customer engagement, environmental awareness, and professional presentation, you help deter theft, identify risks, and support overall store safety.

Safety Expectations
Safety is our #1 priority.

Store Protection Specialists must adhere to all company safety policies, including:
  • Never following a suspected shoplifter outside the building.
  • Never making physical contact with a suspected shoplifter.
  • Never blocking an individual from leaving the store.
  • Immediately reporting theft concerns and safety incidents to store leadership and law enforcement when appropriate.

Failure to follow these safety standards may result in corrective action, up to and including termination.

Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrate Command Presence:
Command Presence is the ability to project confidence, professionalism, and control through your actions and appearance. Key responsibilities include:
  • Confidently greet and acknowledge every customer entering the store.
  • Create a welcoming environment while maintaining a visible security presence.
  • Monitor store activity and remain aware of potential theft indicators.
  • Maintain visibility at the front of the store and key customer access points.
  • Observe store sightlines, sales floor activity, and points of sale.
  • Identify and communicate internal and external theft concerns to appropriate partners.
  • Report opportunities, concerns, and incidents to store leadership and law enforcement as needed.
  • Maintain 100% compliance with Best-in-Class dress code and presentation standards.

Customer Engagement & Theft Deterrence:
  • Enthusiastically welcome customers as they enter the store.
  • Deliver confident and professional customer greetings.
  • Establish a visible presence that promotes customer service and helps deter theft.
  • Support a positive shopping experience while remaining alert to store activity.

Environmental Awareness:
  • Maintain constant awareness of the store environment.
  • Patrol the front-end area while remaining near store entrances.
  • Continuously scan for safety concerns and theft indicators.
  • Monitor customer traffic, high-risk areas, and checkout locations.
  • Remain observant and engaged throughout the entire shift.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain alert, observant, and professional in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service mindset.
  • Ability to follow company policies and safety procedures.
