Job description

This role is full-time, W-2 role, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday.

Job location: Raleigh, NC.

Function

The Safety Manager will be responsible for tracking, documenting and supporting safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors for a specialty mechanical subcontractor. The successful candidate will have a strong background in construction safety practices that include but are not limited to excavation, electrical, welding and mechanical work.

Essential Functions
  1. Oversee and enforce safety programs, policies, and procedures specific to the workplace
  2. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations
  3. Conduct safety training and audits
  4. Lead and manage on-site safety teams
  5. Develop and implement safety policies and procedures
  6. Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  7. Track safety training for employees, including new hires and ongoing training sessions.
  8. Maintain documentation on incidents, accidents, and near-misses. Conduct root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  9. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and industry best practices.
  10. Monitor and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) on construction sites.
  11. Manage safety documentation and records, including incident reports and training records.
  12. Collaborate with project teams to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution.
  13. Stay informed about advancements in construction safety practices and recommend improvements to existing programs.
Required Qualifications
  1. Must have obtained OSHA 500
  2. Minimum 8 years of safety experience, with at least 5 years of management experience.
  3. Bilingual - Spanish/English
  4. In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
  5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs.
  7. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  8. Familiarity with construction processes, equipment, and tools.
  9. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  10. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CHST, or equivalent are preferred.
Physical Demands
