Job description

Applications are being accepted by the College Place School District for a Speech and Language Pathologist at College Place School Disctrict. This assignment is being posted for internal and external consideration at this time. The position is open until filled.
JOB PURPOSE:
Supporting The CP Way by developing and implementing regularly scheduled SLP services for qualifying students.
POSITION & BENEFITS:
Job Title: Speech and Language Pathologist
Reports to: Director of Special Services
Bargaining Group: WWVEA
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position: 7.5 hours per day, 187 days per school year (10 months)
Salary: $57,482 - $111,588 (educational incentive available in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreement as negotiated)
Anticipated Start Date: 08/17/2026
Benefits: Medical/Dental/Vision, FSA/DCAP, Life/AD&D through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board); and Retirement through DRS (Department of Retirement Systems) for eligible employees
Additional Benefits: Optional 403(b) retirement plan; Optional DCP (deferred compensation program) retirement plan
Leave: 12 sick days (pro-rated for mid-year hires)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate Certificate for School Speech Language Pathologist
  • If you do not have an ESA certificate but do have Washington State Department of Health licensure to work in this area, please contact our Administrative Assistant for Special Education to discuss options for employment via email at afanning@cpps.org.
  • Must demonstrate sufficient command of the English language to communicate verbally and in writing with students, parents, district staff members and other concerned people regarding all aspects of their job related activities

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
  • Successful experience as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Strong and well-balanced academic background with public school experience.
  • Bi-literate in Spanish.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Communicate effectively with parents and other staff members
  • Understand Federal and State Laws pertaining to disabled students.
  • Manage the IEP process and maintain proper records and data systems, and facilitate necessary paperwork.
  • Design the yearly program for implementing the speech/language/hearing services in the assigned building(s) in keeping with District and State guidelines.
  • Identify students with communication disorders through screening and appropriate assessment and make recommendations for remediation.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled therapeutic procedures which will modify the behavior(s) which characterize the speech/language and/or hearing disorder.
  • Provide information and assistance to teachers and other appropriate school personnel in non-public school agencies through such activities as consultation and in-service education.
  • Work effectively with students in individual, small group and classroom settings.
  • Consult and collaborate with regular and special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents relative to students' speech/language and/or hearing disorder. This may take the form of in-service, individual consultation, school team meetings, and/or family counseling and training.
