Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking experienced CAE Durability Engineers to support Transmission Driveline Engineering (TDE) programs involving conventional transmissions, driveline systems, hybrid powertrains, and battery electric vehicle (BEV) applications. The engineers will be responsible for conducting finite element based durability analyses, correlating CAE results with physical test data, supporting design optimization, and delivering engineering recommendations for product development, quality improvement, and warranty reduction initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and clean CAD geometry for CAE model development and analysis.
  • Develop finite element models for transmission, driveline, axle, hybrid, and BEV components and systems.
  • Perform durability and structural analyses following established CAE best practices.
  • Interpret simulation results and provide engineering recommendations to improve product robustness and durability.
  • Conduct analytical evaluations supporting new product development, quality improvements, warranty investigations, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Correlate CAE predictions with laboratory and vehicle test data.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, testing teams, materials engineers, metrology teams, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Support planning and execution of hardware testing activities required for model validation and correlation.
  • Analyze engineering data, identify trends, and support root cause investigations.
  • Develop technical reports and present analysis findings to engineering leadership and program teams.
  • Document modeling methodologies, assumptions, results, and lessons learned.
  • Support continuous improvement of CAE processes, analytical methods, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong experience in CAE durability analysis of transmission, driveline, axle, powertrain, or structural systems.
  • Strong understanding of finite element analysis (FEA) principles, fatigue analysis, and durability assessment methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: HyperMesh, SimLab, Abaqus, FEMFAT, Similar industry-standard CAE tools
  • Experience in model build-up, meshing, boundary condition definition, load application, and result interpretation.
  • Experience supporting design validation and CAE-to-test correlation activities.
  • Strong technical report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with conventional, hybrid, and BEV powertrain systems.
  • Knowledge of transmission and driveline component design.
  • Experience with Teamcenter, 3DEXPERIENCE, or similar PLM environments.
  • Six Sigma certification or statistical analysis experience.
  • Knowledge of durability testing, metallurgy, and failure analysis.
