Role Description This full-time HS English Teacher role at Compass Rose Public Schools is an on-site position located in Manor, TX. The teacher will plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned English Language Arts instruction, including literature, writing, and critical reading, to high school students. Daily responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, facilitating engaging classroom discussions, assessing student learning through assignments and exams, and providing timely feedback to support student growth. The teacher will differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment, and integrate character development and college-readiness skills into the curriculum. Additional duties include collaborating with colleagues, communicating regularly with families, participating in professional development, and contributing to school-wide initiatives and events.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in high school English instruction, including literature analysis, composition, grammar, and critical reading.
  • Ability to design and implement standards-based lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials that support diverse learners.
  • Strong classroom management, student engagement, and relationship-building skills in a culturally responsive, inclusive environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, colleagues, and school leadership.
  • Commitment to educational equity and to supporting students from historically underserved communities in achieving college readiness.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field; appropriate state teaching certification or eligibility preferred.
  • Experience teaching at the high school level or working in urban or charter school settings is beneficial.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and to contribute to the broader school community.
