Sherman Inspire Academy is the area's first free, public K-12 charter school. Our innovative inquiry learning model inspires students to pursue their interests and be curious about the world around them. Sherman Inspire Academy's groundbreaking design fosters rich learning experiences and meaningful collaborations with staff and peers to create a school full of wonder and joy.
The Cafeteria Worker will prepare and serve appropriate quantities of food to meet menu requirements and will maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation and safety practices. This position will report to the Cafeteria Supervisor.

The Cafeteria Worker will prepare and serve appropriate quantities of food to meet menu requirements and will maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation and safety practices. This position will report to the Cafeteria Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare quality food according to a planned menu of tested and uniform recipes.
- Serve food according to meal schedules, departmental policies and procedures. Practice and promote portion control and proper use of leftovers.
- Store and handle food items and supplies safely and according to established procedures. Maintain a clean and organized storage area.
- Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards, and follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health and safety.
- Keep garbage collection containers and areas neat and sanitary.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
- Maintain personal appearance and hygiene.
- Handle and record cashier functions accurately.
- Maintain daily food production records.
- Promote teamwork and interaction with fellow staff members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma (or recognized equivalent)
- Food Handler Certificate required
- Previous school food service experience preferred
- Ability to understand written and verbal food preparation and safety instructions
- Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures
- Ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment and tools
- Ability to perform basic math
- Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check prior to starting employment. Non-refundable fee paid by employee.
