    Job description

    The position is for Network & Voice Services as Communications Engineering Associate II. The position will perform professional communications engineering work in the preparation of plans, design, specifications, estimate, studies, reports, and cost and service analyses for LAWA communications systems, gives technical direction in the construction, maintenance, and operation of communications systems and equipment, and does related work. Duties include assisting engineers in planning, implementing, upgrading, and managing network equipment, switches, routers, Internet gateways, firewalls, and load balancers and providing LAN/WAN computing and network connections supporting O&M, Terminals Improvement and Capital Projects and all LAWA mission-critical systems such as SAP, Finger-print, CLETS, ACAMS, CAD PremiereOne, Badge Credentialing, E911 for Dispatch, CCTV, VoIP, Paging, BHS, Common Use, and eGATE.
    Provide engineering and technical expertise support for network planning, design, configuration, implementation, and network upgrade, migration, optimization, troubleshooting, and network security analysis. Work with different vendors to implement new IT technology solutions; monitor MPLS network and servers' performance, alerts, and events for proactive response; and perform routine maintenance IOS, firmware, and software updates; generate reports and performs network monitoring with Spectrum, Route Explorer, and DNA Center.
    Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to technologies such routers, switches, server load balancers, firewalls, SSL VPN, wireless controllers, and NMS servers and must be able to provide documentation and coordination to change requests for production network devices and servers. This position will perform other duties assigned by the supervisor and maybe required to work off hours and weekends in response to needs of the systems being supported.
    **Will consider paygrade advancement.
    REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in engineering, which includes at least 24 semester units or 36 quarter units of communications engineering or electrical engineering courses; or
    2. Possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training Certificate (EIT) recognized by the State of California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.
