Job description

Comfort Systems USA Shoffner is looking for an HVAC Service Apprentice to join the team.

Your main Tasks:
  • Be safe! Safety is our #1 priority.
  • Assist with performing assigned HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting task safely in commercial and industrial settings on various types of split systems, packaged rooftop, rooftop units, heat pumps, DX systems, pneumatic, electrical control systems, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks and repair of commercial HVAC equipment as needed.
  • Assist with diagnosing causes of breakdowns, test parts with appropriate instruments, disassemble and assemble parts, and make necessary repairs to equipment and associated components as needed.
  • Use your HVAC skills and experience to assist with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining medium to large sized complex heating and cooling systems and associated control systems.
  • Utilize electrical and mechanical diagnostic tools to maintain systems.
  • Complete required electronic documentation daily on a handheld device.
  • Work independently, and as part of a team, to complete assigned tasks within an allotted time frame.
  • Operate company vehicle to complete service calls in a specified territory.
  • Perform other related duties or special projects, as assigned.

Experience or Certification needed:
  • Prior completion of an HVAC trade school program.
  • Maintenance or Electrical knowledge is preferred.

You need to be able to:
  • Keep it a Drug-free Workplace.
  • Be punctual and reliable.
  • Work in extremes of heat, cold and bad weather, indoors and outdoors.
  • Stand and walk throughout the workday, and lift/carry up to 60 lbs.
  • Work efficiently in confined spaces.
  • Work reaching above shoulders, crawling, squatting, kneeling, bending.
