Job description

Carlton Fields is seeking a Marketing & Business Development Coordinator. This hybrid position can be based in any of our office locations.

The Marketing & Business Development Coordinator supports firmwide marketing, awards/rankings/surveys, and business development initiatives, with a primary focus on drafting content for legal directories and awards submissions, managing the firm's experience database, and preparing marketing collateral and other support for the Marketing and Business Development Department. This role works closely with attorneys and the marketing/business development team to help position the firm and its lawyers in the marketplace and drive new business opportunities.

Awards and Rankings

  • Draft submissions to legal directories, rankings, and awards (e.g., Chambers, Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, industry and client awards), turning case and matter information into clear, well-organized copy.
  • Coordinate submissions to legal directories, rankings, and awards, including identifying opportunities, developing a calendar, and gathering information.
  • Collect, maintain, and track case and matter data, survey responses, and other experience metrics needed for rankings, awards, and directory submissions.
  • Collaborate with the awards team to ensure timely, accurate, and strategic submissions aligned with firm priorities.

Experience Database Management

  • Update, maintain, and organize business development content and collateral using the firm's experience management software and central filing system.
  • Enter, validate, and regularly audit matter, case, and deal information in the firm's experience database to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability for pitches, proposals, and rankings.
  • Generate reports and experience lists from the database to support proposals, RFPs, directory submissions, attorney bios, and targeted client development materials.

Collateral, Proposals, and Marketing Materials

  • Support the business development team by assembling and tracking proposals, RFPs, RFIs, and pitches.
  • Draft content for firm marketing materials, practice/industry summaries, and client-facing collateral.

Writing, Content and Web Support

  • Support the communications team with posting of awards, rankings, and firm accolades to the firm's website and social media channels.
  • Draft attorney bio narratives, including lateral and internal updates.
  • Gather information from attorneys as needed to prepare accurate, well-written drafts for submissions, bios, and pitch materials.

Administrative and Department Support

  • Track proposals, awards submissions, and results in the firm's central tracking system and prepare periodic reports on outcomes and trends.
  • Assume other day-to-day Marketing and Business Development Department responsibilities firmwide and locally, as needed.

Education & Experience

  • College degree; concentration in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, or Business preferred.
  • 2-3 years of related experience, ideally involving regular writing and editing (e.g., journalism, communications, content marketing, or legal marketing). Law firm experience is a plus but not required.

Actual salaries will vary depending upon various factors, including relevant experience and skillset. The salary range listed is just one component of the Carlton Fields total compensation package for employees. Other monetary rewards include annual discretionary bonuses based on performance and profit-sharing contributions based on eligibility and firm profitability.

Additionally, Carlton Fields provides a comprehensive suite of benefits to promote health and financial security, including medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as life, accident, and disability insurance plans. The firm also provides the opportunity to participate in 401(k) retirement benefits, commuter benefits, and well-being programs.
