Industry: Aerospace, Defense, Automotive - Advanced Materials Applications
Reports To: Production Manager & Ops Director
    Compensation: $95,000-$100,000
    Company Overview
A growing advanced-materials manufacturing organization in the Dallas metro area is expanding its precision machining and kitting operations. The facility supports aerospace, defense, marine, industrial, and energy customers with complex 2D and 3D machined components, composite-material kits, and high-accuracy tooling solutions. The team operates in a low-volume, high-precision environment where quality, repeatability, and engineering collaboration are central to success.
    Role Summary
The CNC Supervisor will oversee a mixed team of machinists, CAD/CAM programmers, and technicians responsible for producing complex composite and metallic components. This role blends hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities, supporting everything from scheduling and workflow management to machining strategy, process improvement, and first-article success.
The ideal candidate is comfortable stepping into Mastercam programming, multi-axis/5-axis machining, machine setup, and precision inspection when needed, while also guiding the team through daily operations.
    Key Responsibilies
    Leadership & Operations
    • Lead and mentor CNC machinists, operators, and CAD/CAM programmers in a multi-shift or multi-machine environment.
    • Oversee daily workflow, scheduling, resource planning, and on-time delivery of machined components and kits.
    • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and AS9100 requirements.
    • Manage machine utilization, prioritization of jobs, and coordination across production, engineering, and quality teams.
    Technical & Hands-On Support
    • Support or perform Mastercam programming for 3-axis, multi-axis, and 5-axis CNC milling when needed.
    • Assist with machine setup, tool selection, troubleshooting, and optimization of cutting strategies.
    • Review drawings, models, GD&T callouts, and CAD/CAM data to ensure accurate machining approaches.
    • Participate in AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) processes, including first-piece validation and in-process verification.
    Quality & Process Improvement
    • Collaborate closely with Quality to incorporate CMM data, inspection feedback, and dimensional reports into machining improvements.
    • Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, 5S, or similar methodologies.
    • Develop, revise, and maintain operating procedures, setup sheets, work instructions, and departmental documentation.
    • Support quoting efforts through design-for-manufacturability input and cycle-time estimation.
    Equipment & Workflow Management
    • Oversee machine maintenance routines and coordinate repair or calibration needs.
    • Identify tooling, fixturing, equipment, and automation opportunities to improve throughput and machining accuracy.
    • Drive improvements in digital modeling, kitting, machining processes, and scanning/point-cloud workflows when applicable.
    Required Qualifications
    • 5+ years of experience with multi-axis / 5-axis CNC milling in aerospace, defense, or high-end manufacturing.
    • Experience supervising or leading CNC machinists, programmers, or technicians.
    • Proficiency with Mastercam or a comparable CAD/CAM package.
    • Ability to read, interpret, and apply GD&T, complex drawings, and 3D models.
    • Strong understanding of machine setup, tooling, fixtures, workholding, and machining strategies.
    • Experience supporting AS9102 or similar first-article processes.
    • Proficiency using precision inspection tools (calipers, height gauges, indicators, micrometers, etc.).
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working with composite materials, kitting workflows, or advanced-materials machining.
    • Exposure to 3D scanning, point-cloud alignment, or reverse-engineering workflows.
    • Familiarity with CMM inspection or interpreting CMM reports.
    • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement practices.
    • Experience guiding CAD/CAM designers, toolpath creators, or quoting processes.
    Additional Details
    • Must be able to work onsite in a manufacturing environment that may include occasional overtime or weekend work based on production needs.
    • U.S. person status may be required depending on customer or regulatory requirements.
